Abstract
Restorasi sandwich merupakan teknik restorasi yang memanfaatkan keuntungan sifat fisik dari dua bahan yaitu semen glass ionomer cement dan resin komposit. Teknik ini menggunakan glass ionomer cement sebagai basis yang berikatan secara kimia dengan dentin, digabung dengan resin komposit yang lebih kuat untuk menahan daya kunyah, tahan terhadap abrasi, dan memiliki nilai estetika yang jauh lebih baik. Glass ionomer cement dipakai sebagai basis restorasi sandwich karena mempunyai sifat-sifat yang tidak dimiliki resin komposit antara lain fluoride release, perlekatan yang baik dengan dentin, tidak mengiritasi jaringan lunak, dan biokompatibel pada jaringan pulpa. Penelitian ini merupakan suatu penelitian eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan compressive strength dari glass ionomer cement tipe konvensional dan resin modified pada restorasi sandwich. Compressive strength kedua kelompok diukur menggunakan alat Autograph Shimadzu Japan setelah 24 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai compressive strength restorasi sandwich dengan basis glass ionomer cement tipe resin modified lebih tinggi daripada restorasi sandwich dengan basis glass ionomer cement tipe konvensional. Hasil analisa data menggunakan independent T-test dengan α = 0,05 menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kedua kelompok. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini yaitu compressive strength restorasi sandwich dengan basis glass ionomer cement tipe resin modified lebih tinggi daripada restorasi sandwich dengan basis glass ionomer cement tipe konvensional.
English Abstract
Sandwich restoration is a restoration technique which used physical properties from two materials, glass ionomer cement and composite resin. This technique use glass ionomer cement as a base which binds chemically with dentin, combine with composite resin that have more resistant to mastication, abrasion, and has better esthetic value. Glass ionomer cement used as the base of sandwich restoration because it has properties that are not owned by composite resin include fluoride release, good adhesion to dentin, does not irritate the soft tissue, and biocompatible in pulp tissue. This research is an experimental study which aim to know difference of compressive strength test between conventional and resin modified glass ionomer cement in sandwich restoration. Compressive strength of both groups is measured by Autograph Shimadzu Japan after 24 hours. The result indicated that compressive strength of sandwich restoration with resin modified glass ionomer cement base is higher than sandwich restoration with conventional glass ionomer cement base. The result of data analysis using independent T-test with α = 0,05 showed significant difference among each group. The conclusion of this study is compressive strength of sandwich restoration with resin modified glass ionomer cement base is higher than sandwich restoration with conventional glass ionomer cement base.
