Wulandari, Vivi (2014) Hubungan Pola Konsumsi Makanan Sumber Kromium (Cr) Terhadap Kadar Gula Darah Puasa Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 di Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels. Riskesdas (2007), showed that the prevalence of DM in East Java is 6,8%. The prevalence of DM by Malang city health office in 2008 is 2,16%. Controlling blood sugar levels is an effort that must be done to avoid complications. One of prevention of diabetes is to meal planning. It could be considered in meal planning is the DM intake of macronutrient and micronutrient. One of the important micronutrient is chromium. Chromium promote insulin to more efficient with taking glucose from the bloodstream into the cells. This study purpose to determine the correlations between food consumption source of chromium (Cr) and fasting blood glucose levels of patients with type 2 diabetes. The cross sectional study was conducted. Samples were selected by purposive sampling and sample size 90 . The results showed the chromium intake from responden is below the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is male <30 mcg/day, women <20 mcg/day, fasting blood sugar levels high average respondent is ≥126 mg/dL (70%), the correlation analysis by pearson showed p = 0.228 ,r = 0.128. The conclusion of this study, there was no significant correlations between the food consumption sources of chromium with fasting blood glucose levels, but the strength of the positive correlations shows very weak .
