Abstract
Penyakit infeksi masih menjadi salah satu masalah dalam bidang kesehatan baik di komunitas masyrakat maupun di rumah sakit, serta merupakan penyebab tingginyaa angka kesakitan serta kematian. Infeksi tersebut banyak yang berasal dari flora normal manusia. Salah satu patogen oportunistik yang sering ditemukan adalah MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus). Rimpang lengkuas merah (Alpinia purpurata K. Schum) telah terbukti efektif sebagai antibakteri pada beberapa spesies bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah sebagai antibakteri terhadap MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus) secara in vitro. Metode yang digunakan adalah uji dilusi agar untuk penentuan KBM (Kadar Bunuh Minimal). Konsentrasi ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah yang digunakan adalah 0,2%; 0,4%; 0,6%; 0,8%, 1%; dan 2% serta kontrol negatif sebagai pembanding. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah Uji Nonparametrik Kruskal Wallis dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% (= 0,05), Uji Mann-Whitney, dan Korelasi Spearman. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan: (1) pertumbuhan koloni bakteri yang berbeda secara nyata antara paling tidak dua konsentrasi ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah (Kruskal Wallis p = 0,001 [p < 0,05]), (2) antara perlakuan berbagai konsentrasi terdapat beberapa perbedaan signifikan (Mann-Whitney p < 0,05), (3) Uji Korelasi Spearman didapatkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah semakin turun pertumbuhan koloni bakteri (r = -858), (4) KBM ditentukan pada konsentrasi 2%. Dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap bakteri MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus) secara in vitro.
English Abstract
Infectious diseases are still one of the problems in health care in the community and in hospitals constituting a cause high numbers pain and death. Many of these infections are derived from normal human flora . One of the common opportunistic pathogen is MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus). Red galangal rhizome ( Alpinia purpurata K. Schum ) has been shown to be effective as an antibacterial in several bacterial species . Research is aimed to know the effects of an extract red galangal rhizomes as an antibacterial against MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus) in vitro. The method is applicable in the dilution test for the determination of MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration ) . The concentration of red galangal rhizome extract used was 0.2 % , 0.4 % , 0.6 %, 0.8 % , 1 % and 2 % , and a negative control for comparison . Statistical analysis used was Nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test with 95% confidence level (a = 0.05 ) , Mann - Whitney test and Spearmans correlation . Obtained from this study : ( 1 ) the growth of bacterial colonies that were significantly different between at least two concentrations of red galangal rhizome extract ( Kruskal Wallis p = 0.001 [ p < 0.05 ] ) , ( 2 ) the treatment of a wide range of concentrations , there are some significant differences ( Mann - Whitney p < 0.05 ) , ( 3 ) Spearman correlation test showed that the higher the concentration of red galangal rhizome extract further down the growth of bacterial colonies ( r = -858 ) , ( 4 ) MBC determined at a concentration of 2 % . From the study it can be concluded that red galangal rhizome extract has antibacterial effect on the growth of MRSA (Methicillin Resistent Staphylococcus aureus)in vitro .
