Ayuningtyas, ImaliaNurrachma (2013) Pembuatan Dan Optimasi Elektroda Selektif Ion Merkuri Berbasis Kitosan Untuk Mengukur Kadar Merkuri Dalam Sediaan Kosmetik. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Content of mercury metal in cosmetics is very harmful for human health. Mercury is added to cosmetics for skin looks brighter. Development potentiometric sensor method using a coated wire mercury ion selective electrode (mercury CWE) expected to be able to detect mercury ions. The purpose of this study is to develop mercury ion CWE base on membranous chitosan which has optimum character for analysis. Mercury (Hg2+) CWE is made of platinum wire (Pt) coated by membranes are made from a mixture of the active ingredient chitosan, polyvinylchloride (PVC) polymer, and dioctylphtalate plasticizer (DOP) at various compositions were dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent with a ratio of 1:3 (w/v). The optimized Hg2+ CWE was done included: the effects of membrane composition, the soaking time in mercury chloride 0.25 M solution at time of 10; 20; 30; 40; 50; and 60 minutes, and the basic characteristics of Hg2+ CWE included: Nernst factor, range of linear concentration, detection limits, and response time. The result of this study showed that optimum composition of Hg2+ CWE membrane consist of (% weight) chitosan : PVC : DOP = 3 : 39 : 58, soaking time was 40 minutes, has a Nernstian character (Nernst factor value was 29,35 mV/decade) and R2 = 0,923. The linear concentration range from 1x10-1 – 1x10-7 M. The detection limits concentration was 7,99x10-8 M or 0,022 ppm and the response time of 200 second.
