Abstract
Konsumsi minuman yang mengandung asam telah meningkat selama beberapa dekade terakhir terutama pada anak. Sari buah jeruk nipis dan sari buah lemon merupakan minuman yang mengandung asam yang banyak dikonsumsi sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kekerasan email gigi sulung pada perendaman sari buah jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia) dan sari buah lemon (Citrus limon). Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah 27 gigi sulung insisivus satu rahang atas yang telah diekstraksi dan tidak digunakan lagi oleh pemiliknya. Gigi yang dipilih adalah gigi yang bebas karies, bebas tumpatan, tanpa anomali dan kelainan struktur. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan jenis penelitian true experiment dengan rancangan penelitian pretest-postest control group design. Sampel direndam dalam sari buah jeruk nipis dan sari buah lemon masing-masing selama 1 menit sebanyak satu kali, dua kali dan tiga kali dalam sehari. Hasil pengukuran menggunakan Vickers Microhardness Tester terjadi penurunan kekerasan email yang signifikan pada gigi yang direndam selama 1 menit sebanyak dua kali dan tiga kali. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah lamanya waktu perendaman gigi sulung dalam sari buah jeruk nipis dan sari buah lemon berpengaruh secara signifikan dalam menurunkan kekerasan email gigi sulung. Semakin lama waktu perendaman dalam sari buah jeruk nipis dan sari buah lemon maka akan semakin tinggi tingkat penurunan kekerasan email gigi sulung.
English Abstract
Acid drink consumption has increased during the last few decades especially in children. Orange juice and lemon juice are acidic drink that often consumed daily. This study aims to determine the difference of enamel hardness of primary teeth on orange juice (Citrus aurantifolia) and lemon juice (Citrus limon). The sample used in this study were 27 primary teeth of the maxillary first incisors, the teeth was extracted and have no function for the owner, the teeth are caries-free, did not have fillings, with no anomalies and no structure abnormalities. This research is true experiment type research with design of the study is a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample immersed on orange juice and lemon juice for 1 minutes as much as one time, twice and three times a day. The result of the measurement using a Vickers Microhardness Tester showed the decrease of enamel hardness on primary teeth that immersed 1 minutes for twice and three times a day. This study concluded that the length of immersion time have a significant effect in decreasing the enamel hardness of primary teeth. The longer the immersion time in orange juice and lemon juice will be higher decreasing of enamel hardness of primary teeth.
