Abstract
Desa Domasan dikenal sebagai salah satu daerah lumbung TKI di Kabupaten Tulungagung karena sebagian besar penduduknya bekerja sebagai Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) ke luar negeri. Keputusan bekerja ke luar negeri membuat keluarga TKI harus tinggal berjauhan. Jika pepatah keluarga jawa dulu menyebut bahwa mangan ora mangan sing penting kumpul yang berarti makan atau tidak makan yang penting berkumpul, pada keluarga TKI terkesan terbalik menjadi kumpul ora kumpul sing penting mangan yang berarti berkumpul atau tidak yang penting makan. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini akan menjawab dua rumusan masalah yaitu bagaimana makna keluarga ideal bagi keluarga TKI di Desa Domasan dan bagaimana rasionalisasi tindakan keluarga TKI dalam mewujudkan keluarga ideal. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode life history terhadap lima keluarga TKI yang menetap di Desa Domasan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Kemudian data dianalisis menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial Petter Louwis Berger. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa makna keluarga ideal TKI di Desa Domasan adalah terpenuhinya ekonomi keluarga yang dapat dipahami melalui tiga proses yaitu internalisasi, eksternalisasi, dan objektivikasi beserta rasionalisasi tindakannya. Berdasarkan proses internalisasi, keluarga TKI berupaya memenuhi kebutuhan rumah tangga, rasionalisasi tindakannya adalah memutuskan diantara ayah dan ibu harus ada yang bekerja ke luar negeri. Selanjutnya berdasarkan proses eksternalisasi, keluarga TKI berupaya meningkatkan kondisi ekonomi keluarga, rasionalisasi tindakannya dengan kembali bekerja terus menerus ke luar negeri. Berdasarkan proses objektivikasi diketahui bahwa makna keluarga ideal TKI adalah terpenuhinya ekonomi keluarga, rasionalisasi tindakannya adalah kepemilikan harta benda seperti rumah, kendaraan, handphone, sawah, ternak, dan sebagainya.
English Abstract
Domasan village is known as one of the TKI areas in Tulungagung regency since most of its population work abroad as Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI). Their decision to work abroad makes them have to live far from their family. There is a Javanese proverb mentions that mangan ora mangan sing penting kumpul which means to eat or not to eat, as long as we can be together. What is happening with the TKI family is the opposite of the proverb where being together or not is not important, as long as we can eat. Therefore, in this research, the researcher will answer two problems of the study: first, What does ideal family mean to TKI's family in Domasan Village? and how do TKI families rationalize the actions in realizing ideal fmily? This research is a qualitative research that used life history method towards five families of migrant workers who live in Domasan Village. The data were collected through observation and interview. Then the data were analyzed by using social construction theory by Petter Louwis Berger. The results of the research showed that the meaning of ideal family to the migrant workers in Domasan Village is the fulfillment of family economy that could be understood through three processes namely internalization, externalization, and objectivation to bring up the rationalization of the actions in realizing the ideal family. Based on the internalization process, it is known that the migrant worker's family is trying to change the economic condition of the family, and the rationalization of the action is by dividing the role of who among the fathers and mothers who should work abroad. Furthermore from the process of externalization, the migrant worker's family trying to improve the economic condition of the family and the rationalization of the action is by continuously making money from abroad. Based on the process of objectivication, the meaning of ideal family is the fulfillment of family economy and the rationalization of the action is having some wealth such as car, motorcycle, house, field, livestock, and other wealth
