Abstract
Masyarakat terdiri dari orang-orang yang memiliki perasaan, identitas, dan kepemilikan yang sama yang memiliki budaya bersama. Kehidupan orang juga dibentuk oleh fenomena dalam hidup mereka. Fenomena dalam kehidupan manusia juga dipengaruhi oleh apa yang terjadi di masa lalu. Namun budaya tumbuh cepat dan membawa orang ke era budaya yang populer. Budaya populer mengacu pada keyakinan dan praktik, dan objek yang melaluinya mereka terorganisir yang secara luas dibagi di antara populasi. Dari sudut pandang ini, gaya Harajuku sebagai produk budaya populer dianggap sebagai fenomena dalam hidup kita saat ini. Penulis melakukan studi tentang budaya populer dalam tesis ini, analisis: (1) alasan di balik keberadaan komunitas gaya Harajuku di Taman Bungkul Surabaya (2) Efek dari keberadaan komunitas gaya Harajuku di Taman Bungkul Surabaya. Teori penelitian ini adalah budaya populer dari Chris Barker (2004) dan teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall (1997). Penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berkaitan dengan data sebagai temuan. Data adalah wawancara dengan anggota komunitas gaya Harajuku. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa keberadaan komunitas gaya Harajuku di Taman Bungkul Surabaya dipengaruhi oleh hubungan sosial, anime, film, dan pengaruh musik Jepang di Indonesia dan lain-lain dampaknya di balik keberadaan komunitas gaya Harajuku di Taman Bungkul Surabaya secara sosial Hubungan Membuat Remaja di Surabaya terutama di sekitar Taman Bungkul Surabaya menjadi bersosialisasi dan baik untuk hidup mereka. Keberadaan komunitas cosplay juga memberikan efek besar bagi orang-orang yang memilih profesi sebagai cosplayer karena ketika ada banyak cosplay atau acara gaya Harajuku, orang-orang diundang ke acara tersebut. Mereka bergabung dengan acara-acara sehingga mereka mendapatkan penghasilan, terkenal di sekitar cosplayer dan orang-orang yang suka cosplay atau gaya Harajuku
English Abstract
Society consist of people who have same feeling ,identity and belongingness that share common culture. People’s life are also shaped by the phenomena in their life. The phenomena in human life are also influenced by what happened in past. However culture grows fast and brings people to popular culture era. popular culture refers to the beliefs and practices, and the object through which they are organized that are widely shared among population. From this point of view, Harajuku style as product of popular culture is regarded as phenomena in our life nowadays. The writer conducted a study about popular culture in this thesis analyze : (1) The reasons behind the existence of Harajuku style community in Taman Bungkul Surabaya (2) the effects of the existence of Harajuku style community in Taman Bungkul Surabaya. The theories of this research are popular culture from Chris Barker (2004) and representation theory by Stuart Hall (1997). The writer used qualitative approach deals with the data as the findings. The data are interviews with the Harajuku style communities members. This research reveales that the existence of Harajuku style community in Taman Bungkul Surabaya are affected by social relation, anime, movies, and the influence of Japanese music in Indonesia and etc. The effects behind the existence of Harajuku style community in Taman Bungkul Surabaya in social relation making the teenagers in Surabaya especially around Taman Bungkul Surabaya become socialize and its good for their life. The existence of cosplay community also gives big effect to people that choose profession as cosplayer because when there are many cosplay or harajuku style events, people are invited to the events. They join the events so that they gain income, famous around cosplayer and people who love cosplay or harajuku style
