Abstract
Resin akrilik cold cured merupakan salah satu bahan yang sering digunakan dalam kedokteran gigi karena pengerjaannya lebih mudah, lebih murah, dan lebih menghemat waktu. Resin akrilik cold cured memiliki polimerisasi yang kurang sempurna, sehingga terdapat kandungan monomer sisa yang tinggi, menyebabkan porus pada resin akrilik, iritasi jaringan mukosa rongga mulut dan melunakkan resin akrilik sehingga sifat mekanisnya menurun. Kandungan monomer sisa yang tinggi dapat dikurangi dengan mempolimerisasi resin akrilik pada air hangat dalam panci bertekanan. Pemanasan pada polimerisasi bertindak sebagai aktivator untuk memulai proses polimerisasi. Reaksi kimia dari monomer dan polimer akan teraktivasi oleh pemanasan pada polimerisasi sehingga menghasilkan polimerisasi yang lebih sempurna dan dapat meningkatkan sifat mekanisnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanasan pada polimerisasi resin akrilik cold cured terhadap kekuatan impak. Sampel penelitian berupa plat resin akrilik cold cured dengan ukuran (65x10x2.5) mm. Sampel terbagi menjadi kelompok kontrol dipolimerisasi pada suhu ruangan, tiga kelompok perlakuan dipolimerisasi pada suhu 30ºC (kelompok I), 40ºC (kelompok II) dan 50ºC (kelompok III). Semua sampel diuji menggunakan alat uji kekuatan impak Charpy. Hasil penelitian diuji menggunakan uji One Way Anova menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok kontrol dengan kelompok perlakuan (p<0.05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemanasan pada polimerisasi resin akrilik cold cured berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan impak dengan suhu pemanasan optimal adalah suhu 40ºC.
English Abstract
Cold cured acrylic resin was one of material that mostly used in dentistry, because it was simple work, cheaper and less in time. Cold cured acrylic resin have incomplete polymerization, so could content high residual monomer, caused porous on resin acrylic, irritated oral cavity mucous and soften acrylic resin, thereby decreasing its mechanical strength. Residual monomer could reduce by polymerized acrylic resin on warm water inside pressure vessel. Heating on polymerization acted as activator to start polymerization. Chemical reaction of monomer and polymer were activated by heating on polymerization, so would produce more complete polymerization and could increase its mechanical strength. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of heating on polymerization cold cured acrylic resin to impact strength. The sample of this study were (65x10x2.5) mm cold cured acrylic resin plates. Sample were divided into control group were polymerized in room temperature and three treatment groups were polymerized in 30ºC (group I), 40ºC (group II), and 50ºC (group III). All samples were tested using Charpy impact tester. The result were tested using One Way Anova showed significant difference between control group and treatment groups (p<0.05). The conclusion of this study was heating on polymerization cold cured acrylic resin had influence to impact strength with the optimal heating temperature was 40ºC.
