English Abstract

Premixed combustion is a combustion method in which the fuel and air (reactants) are mixed first before entering the reaction zone. This research was conducted to know the effect of magnetic distance to premixed castor oil combustion characteristics. In this research, the magnetic distance to fire is 2 cm, 2.5 cm, 3 cm and air discharge. ie 2 l / min, 2.5 l / min, 3 l / min, 3.5 l / min, 4 l / min. The magnetic force used is 38.3mT. While the combustion characteristics to be discussed include the speed of combustion, and fire visualization. The results of this study indicate the magnetic distance can affect the combustion fire characteristics of premixed castor oil which includes combustion velocity and fire visualization. In the equivalence ratio> 1 the magnetic field makes the mixture poorer so that the firing rate of premixed fires increases compared with no magnetic field, in the equivalence ratio <1 the magnetic field makes the mixture richer at point A and B so that the fire rate is premixed decrease compared without a magnetic field but at point C the magnetic field makes the mixture poorer so that the burning speed is increased compared to without the magnetic field. This condition is caused by oxygen besifat paramagnetik so that can be affected by magnet and laying of burner to magnet. In addition, the increase in air discharge will decrease the fire height but wider.
