Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui pengaruh nilai daya saing (GCI), Investasi Asing (FDI), dan pengeluaran pemerintah terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di negara ASEAN. (2) mengetahui pengaruh dari pilar-pilar daya saing global seperti kelembagaan (korupsi), infrastruktur (Infrastruktur listrik), kestabilan makroekonomi (inflasi), kesehatan (angka kematian bayi), pendidikan tinggi (lulusan S1), efisiensi di pasar barang (keterbukaan perdagangan), dan, kesiapan teknologi (teknologi informasi dan komunikasi) terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di negara ASEAN. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 8 negara ASEAN (Singapura, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, dan Vietnam). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi data panel. Hasil estimasi menunjukkan bahwa daya saing global (GCI) dan investasi asing (FDI) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap tingkat pertumbuhan ekonomi di ASEAN, sedangkan variabel pengeluaran pemerintah tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Hasil analisis terhadap pengaruh masing-masing pilar terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di ASEAN menunjukkan tiga hasil yang berbeda yaitu bersifat positif dan signifikan terhadap variabel infrastruktur listrik dan inflasi, negatif dan signifikan terhadap variabel angka kematian bayi, dan tidak signifikan terhadap variabel-variabel korupsi, pendidikan tinggi dan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi.

English Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of competitiveness (GCI), Foreign Investment (FDI), and government expenditure on economic growth in ASEAN countries, (2) to know the effect of each pillars of global competitiveness namely institutions (corruption), infrastructure (electricity infrastructure), macroeconomic stability (inflation), health (infant mortality rate), higher education (bachelor degree graduates), efficiency in the goods market (trade openness), and, the readiness of technology (information and communication technology) on economic growth in ASEAN countries. This study uses a sample of 8 ASEAN countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, and Vietnam). The method used in this research is panel data regression analysis. The estimation results show that global competitiveness (GCI) and foreign investment (FDI) have a positive and significant effect on economic growth rate in ASEAN, while the variable of government expenditure has no significant effect. The analysis result on the effect of each pillars on economic growth in ASEAN shows three different results which are positive and significant for the variable of electricity infrastructure and inflation,negative and significant for the variable of infant mortality rate, and insignificant for the variables of corruption, higher education and information and communication technologies.
