Abstract

Facemilling menyisakan alur pahat yang mengakibatkan kekasaran material meningkat. Meningkatnya kekasaran akan berpengaruh pada laju korosi material tersebut nantinya. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai pada penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari variasi spindle speed dan feed rate terhadap laju korosi pada stainless steel AISI 316L hasil dari proses facemilling. Dengan menggunakan pahat 20 mm, variasi spindle speed 500 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm dan cutting speed 30 mm/min, 60 mm/min, 90 mm/min didapatkan data hasil pengujian kekasaran yang mana semakin tinggi spindle speed maka kekasaran akan menurun dan semakin tinggi cutting speed maka kekasaran meningkat. Hasil pengujiannya kekasarannya didapat kekasaran rata-rata (Ra) dalam range antara 0,133 μm sampai 1,483 μm. Sedangkan untuk hasil pengujian korosi semua hasil sesuai dengan nilai kekasarannya, semakin tinggi nilai kekasarannya maka semakin tinggi pula laju korosinya. Dalam range antara 0,13756 mm/year sampai 1,428513 mm/year. Kecuali pada parameter permesinan 1500 rpm, 90 mm/min terdapat anomali yaitu laju korosi meningkat drastis dan berdasarkan penampakan visual terlihat proses permesinan tersebut menghasilkan permukaan yang tidak rapi, berbeda dengan alur pahat biasanya.

English Abstract

Facemilling leaves a chisel groove resulting in increased material roughness. Increased roughness will affect the rate of corrosion of the material later. The aim of this research is to know the effect of spindle speed variation and feed rate on corrosion rate on stainless steel AISI 316L result from facemilling process. By using chisel 20 mm, spindle speed variation of 500 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm and cutting speed 30 mm/min, 60 mm/min, 90 mm/min obtained roughness test results where the higher the spindle speed then the roughness will decrease and the higher the cutting speed the roughness increases. The roughness test results obtained roughness average (Ra) in the range between 0.133 μm to 1.483 μm. As for the results of corrosion testing all results in accordance with the value of roughness, the higher the value of surface roughness the higher the rate of corrosion. In the range between 0.13756 mm/year to 1.428513 mm/year. Except for the 1500 rpm, 90 mm/min machining parameters there is an anomaly that the corrosion rate rises drastically and based on visual visibility the machining process produces a bad surface, unlike the usual chisel groove.
