Abstract
Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) merupakan salah satu komposit laminat yang mulai banyak dipelajari dan dikembangkan. Namun, pengamatan yang dilakukan saat proses pengujian FMLs masih terbatas akibat material utamanya tidak transparan sehingga sulit megetahui apa yang terjadi pada bagian dalam material tersebut, contohnya delaminasi. Fiber-acrylic laminated composite merupakan solusi untuk masalah ini. Pada penelitian ini, pengujian fatigue dilakukan pada fiber-acrylic laminated composite. akrilik digunakan sebagai material utama, 2 layer serat fiberglass woven roving dengan orientasi sudut 0o/90o sebagai penguat serta resin epoksi dan hardener EPH-555 digunakan sebagai matrik. Metode pembuatan spesimen dilakukan dengan vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM). Beban dinamis yang diterapkan pada spesimen yaitu pengaruh displacement amplitude dan displacement ratio yang merupakan variabel bebas. Dengan adanya beban dinamis yang diterapkan maka akan diketahui karakteristik perambatan retak pada fiber-acrylic laminated composite. Dari hasil penelitian ini, didapatkan bahwa semakin bertambahnya displacement amplitude menyebabkan umur material berkurang dan laju perambatan retak yang tinggi. Sedangkan semakin menurunnya displacement ratio maka umur kelelahan material akan bertambah diikuti dengan laju perambatan retak yang rendah. Diketahui pula bahwa displacement amplitude memiliki pengaruh yang cukup signifikan daripada displacement ratio. Selain itu, delaminasi yang terjadi di dalam spesimen juga dapat diamati.
English Abstract
Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) are one of the most widely studied and developed laminate composites. However, the observations made during the FMLs testing process are still limited as the main material is not transparent making it difficult to observe what happens inside the material, delamination as example. Fiber-acrylic laminated composite is a solution to this problem. In this study,fatigue test was perfomed on fiber-acrylic laminated composit. Acrylic was used as the main material while 2 layer woven roving fiberglass as reinforced component with the orientation angle of 0o/90o. The dynamic load applied to the specimen are the influence of displacement amplitude and displacement ratio which are the independent variables. With the dynamic load applied, fatigue life and crack propagation rate were investigated. The results show that the increase of displacement amplitude decreases the fatigue life of the material with high crack propagation rate. Whereas the decrease of displacemet ratio increases fatigue life of the material followed by low crack propagation rate. It is also known that displacement amplitude has a significant influence over displacement ratio. In addition, the delamination occurring within the specimen were also observed.
