Abstract

Ion tiosianat merupakan senyawa yang dihasilkan dari proses lanjutan permunian bijih emas. Tiosianat bersifat toksik bagi perairan. Penyisihan tiosianat dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) berdasarkan transpor ion tiosianat. PIM terdiri atas polimer dasar, ekstraktan, dan pemlastis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan pengaruh jenis dan konsentrasi pemlastis terhadap transpor ion tiosianat melalui PIM. PIM dibuat dengan mencampurkan PVC, Aliquat 336-Cl, dan pemlastis dengan komposisi tertentu yang dilarutkan dalam pelarut THF. Pemlastis yang dipelajari adalah 1-dekanol dan Dioktil ftalat (DOP). Konsentrasi pemlastis divariasi pada 5%, 10%, 15% dan 20% (w/w). Uji transpor dilakukan dengan menggunakan sel difusi yang terdiri dari dua bagian yang dipisahkan dengan PIM. Fasa umpan diisi 100 mL larutan tiosianat 50 mg/L. Fasa penerima diisi 100 mL larutan NaCl 1,000 M. Kedua fasa diaduk selama 150 menit dengan kecepatan 150 rpm. Larutan pada kedua fasa diambil sebanyak 1 mL Setiap 30 menit. Konsentrasi ion tiosianat dalam cuplikan dianalisis secara spektrofotometri menggunakan pereaksi besi(III) klorida pada panjang gelombang 457 nm dengan membentuk senyawa kompleks besi(III)tiosianat berwana merah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa transpor optimum ion tiosianat terjadi melalui PIM yang menggunakan pemlastis 1-dekanol pada konsentrasi 15% (w/w). Nilai permeabilitas membran sebesar 11,6 x 10-4 mL/min.cm2 dan fluks awal 5,80 x 10-2 mg/min.cm2.

English Abstract

Thiocyanate ion was such compound produced from extraction process of gold ore. It is toxic for water environment. Removal of thiocyanate ion could be conducted by using Polymer Inclusion Membrane PIM. PIM was consisted of base polymer, extractant, and plasticizer. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of plasticizer nature and its concentration to the thiocyanate ion transport through PIM. PIM was prepared by mixing PVC, Aliquat 336-Cl, and plasticizer at certain composition that were diluted in THF. The studied plasticizers were 1-decanol and Diocthyl Phtalate (DOP). The concentration of plasticizer was varied at 5%, 10%, 15% dan 20% (w/w). Tranport was conducted using a diffusion cell that was comprised two compartments separated with PIM. Feed phase was filled with 100 mL of thiocyanate ion at 50 mg/l while the stripping phase was filled with 100 mL of NaCl solution at 1,000 M. Both phases were stirred for 150 minutes at 150 rpm. Every 30 minutes, it was taken 1 mL of aliquot solution from both phases. The thiocyanate ion concentration was analyzed using spectrophotometric method using iron(III)chloride at wavelength at 457 nm as red iron(III)thiocyanate complex. The results showed that the optimum transport of thiocyanate ion was occurred through a PIM with 1-decanol as plasticizer at 15% (w/w). The membrane permeability was 11.6 x 10-4 mL/min.cm2 and the initial flux was 5.80 x 10-6 mg/min.cm2.
