Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana pemilik sapèh sonok di Desa Waru Barat, Kecamatan Waru, Kabupaten Pamekasan, menampilkan representasi sapèh sonok. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyajikan sebuah pembahasan yang mendalam dan ilmiah, tentang pemilik sapèh sonok yang ada di Desa Waru Barat, Kecamatan Waru, Kabupaten Pamekasan, dalam menampilkan representasi sapèh sonok miliknya dalam ranah sosial. Peneliti di sini akan mengulas representasi apa saja yang sebenarnya telah ditampilkan oleh pemilik sapèh sonok dalam ranah sosial di masyarakat Desa Waru Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep representasi yang digagas oleh Stuart Hall. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa sapèh sonok merepresentasikan tiga hal penting dari pemilik sapèh sonok, yaitu sisi estetis, sisi komersial dan solidaritas sosial pemilik sapèh sonok.
English Abstract
This research discusses how the owners of sapèh sonok represent their pets in Waru Barat Village, Waru Subdistrict, Pamekasan District. The aims of this research are to introduce and comprehend scientifically the existing tradition in Madura especially about sono'an which has not been much studied in representing their pets in social realm. I tend to dissect which representations they have communicated in social field in the village. This study uses the concept of representation initiated by Stuart Hall. It also uses qualitative research method with phenomenological approach. The results of it indicate that sapèh sonok represent three important things from their owners, namely aesthetics, prosperity, and solidarity of the owners of sapèh sonok.
