Abstract

English Abstract

In recent years the world has been hit by a crisis energy. To achive energy needs can use microalgae. Microalga is organism that have micro size. One of its kind, namely Chlorella vulgaris. Microalgae have essential ingredients such as lipids. These lipids can be an alternative energy. To obtain this lipid is harvesting microalgae. One of the method is filtration using a membrane. However, there are some problem about the technology is fouling which can reduce the flux. To overcome this problems need to add a vibration to reduce the fouling. The aim of this research is to know the effect of pressure flow difference and vibration velocity on flux that produced by ultrafiltration membrane technology when added vibration. This research uses descriptive experimental method with variation of pressure, are 0.5 bar, 0.75 bar, and 1 bar, and variation of vibration velocity, are without vibration, 350 ±50 rpm, and 750 ±50 rpm. From these results we can see the effect of the flux. From this research we can get data of microalga cell density, flux result, and cell density before filtration and after filtration (in the measuring glass and aquarium). The results of this research show the difference in flow pressure, i.e more higher the flow pressure, more smaller flux can get. The difference in vibration speed, i.e, more higher the vibration speed (750 ±50 rpm), less fouling can get. The difference between the result of control flux and the added vibration filtration is not significant, but still higher the filtration flux value added by vibration.
