Abstract

Cacingan dapat mengganggu pencernaan, menghambat penyerapan gizi dan menurunkan ketahanan tubuh manusia. Kebiasaan manusia mengkonsumsi sayuran mentah (lalapan) meningkatkan resiko pindahnya parasit ke manusia jika sayuran tidak dibersihkan dengan benar. Sedangkan, keuntungan makan sayuran mentah karena gizinya yang tidak mengalami perubahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi parasit dan derivatnya pada daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) dan selada (Lactuca sativa) yang dijual di empat pasar induk Kota Malang yaitu, Pasar Gadang, Pasar Besar, Pasar Blimbing dan Pasar Merjosari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional deskriptif dengan desain survei karena semua kondisi diamati pada waktu yang sama. Sampel yang diperoleh dari empat pasar induk di Kota Malang, dilakukan sebanyak lima kali pengambilan pada setiap pasar sehingga didapatkan 100 sampel pada tiap sayur. Pada pemeriksaan parasit, proses filtrasi dan sentrifugasi yang telah digunakan. Hasil menunjukkan parasit yang mengkontaminasi daun kemangi dan selada yang terbanyak adalah telur dari Hookworm sebanyak 77 sampel positif (77%) dan 33 sampel positif (33%). Kesimpulannya, konsumsi sayuran tidak dapat dipisahkan dari manusia, yang menunjukkan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dan pribadi dari penjual dan konsumen agar pencemaran parasit dapat dihindari.

English Abstract

Parasite infection can interfere the digestion process, inhibit absorption of nutrients and lower the immune system. People habits of consuming the raw vegetables increase the risk of parasitic food-borne disease if the vegetables are not washed properly through. In addition, by consuming the raw vegetables the nutrition will not undergo denaturation. This study aims for the identification parasites and its derivatives on basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) and the lettuce (Lactuca sativa) which are sold in four main markets of Malang. Design of this study is observational descriptive with survey because of all samples must be observed at the same time. The sample was obtained from four main markets in Malang, then it is taken five times in each market until 100 samples were obtained from each vegetable. The examination of the parasite was conducted by centrifugation and sedimentation process. The results showed the highest contamination of parasites were caused by Hookworm’s egg which was detected on basil leaves with 77 samples positive (77%) while lettuce with 33 samples positive (33%). The conclusion is consumption of vegetables cannot be separated from man, therefore it is important for maintain hygiene of the environment and improve personal lifestyle starting from the dealer to the consumer in the prevention of contamination parasites.
