Abstract

Penyakit karang pada saat ini diakui sebagai faktor utama dalam mempercepat degradasi terumbu karang di banyak wilayah di dunia. Pemberian nama penyakit karang berbeda setiap daerah diakibatkan kurangnya informasi tentang ekologi dan etiologi penyakit karang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis penyakit karang keras dan prevalensi penyakit karang keras. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Maret – Mei 2017 dengan 3 stasiun penelitian. Pengambilan data karang menggunakan belt transek 100m dengan lebar 1m dan transek kuadran 1x1m setiap stasiun dengan metode analisis foto bawah air. Penyakit karang yang ditemukan yaitu Tissue Loss Predation, Tissue Loss Non Predation diantaranya Black Band Disease, Atramentous Necrosis, Ulcerative White Spots dan White Spots, Tissue Discolouration diantaranya Bleacing Pigmentation Response dan Trematodiasis, Growth Anomalies diantaranya Explained Growth Anomalies dan Unexplained Growth Anomalies. Prevalensi penyakit karang pada masing - masing stasiun yaitu ST1 dengan nilai 20,9% pada ST2 sebesar 6,5% dan ST3 sebesar 5,2%.

English Abstract

Coral disease was recognized as a major factor in accelerating the degradation of coral reefs around the world. The less information about ecology and etiology of coral disease makes a different in coral disease nomenclature. This study was aimed to determine types of coral reef disease and the coral disease prevalence at Prigi Bay. This research was conducted in March - May 2017 with 3 research stations. Hard coral data was collected using 100x1m belt transect and 1x1m quadrat transect in each station with underwater photo analysis method. The results of this study was found several coral disease categories including Tissue Loss Predation, Tissue Loss Non Predation (like Black Band Disease, Atramentous Necrosis, Ulcerative White Spots, and White Spots), Tissue Discolouration (like Bleacing, Pigmentation Response, and Trematodiasis), Growth Anomalies (like Explained Growth Anomalies and Unexplained Growth Anomalies). Coral disease prevalence was found at station 1 as 20,9%, station 2 as 6,5%, and station 3 as 5,2%.
