Abstract
Biomassa merupakan bahan alami yang lebih sering dianggap sebagai limbah dan sering hanya dimusnahkan dengan cara dibakar atau ditimbun dengan tanah. Salah satu biomassa tersebut adalah blotong atau filter cake. Blotong masih memiliki sifat dan kandungan zat yang bermanfaat untuk diolah menjadi sumber energi alternatif berupa briket. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan bahan campuran lainnya seperti perekat untuk membuat biobriket dari blotong. Metode rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis perekat yaitu Molase, Lumpur Lapindo, Tanah Liat. Faktor kedua yaitu komposisi perekat (20%, 30% dan 40%) dimana setiap perlakuannya diualang sebanyak 3 kali. Karakteristik yang dianalisis adalah kadar air, kadar abu, nilai kalor, volatile matter, karbon terikat, kuat tekan, densitas, efektifitas sisa dan laju pembakaran briket. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu perlakuan jenis perekat berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi, densitas, kuat tekan briket, kadar air, volatile matter, kadar abu, laju pembakaran dan efektivitas. Perlakuan komposisi perekat berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi dan densitas briket. Perlakuan terbaik yang didapatkan adalah briket dengan perekat tanah liat dan komposisi perekat 20%. Hasil dari perlakuan tersebut memiliki tinggi 5,33 cm, densitas sebesar 1,08 gram/cm3, kuat tekan sebesar 2,466 kg/cm2, kadar air 5,02%, volatile matter 21,03%, kadar abu 42,45%, fixed carbon 31,51%, nilai kalor 3063,4 kalori/gram, laju pembakaran 0,465 gram/menit dan efektivitas 55,78%
English Abstract
Biomass is a natural source that is more often considered a waste and often simply burned or destroyed by piled up with soil. One of these is biomass blotong or filter cake. Blotong still has the nature and content of useful substances to processed into alternative energy sources in the form of briquettes. Therefore, required materials such as adhesive mixture to create biobriket from blotong. Method of experimental design used by random design group (RAK) with two factors. The first factor is the type of adhesive that is Molasses, Lapindo Mud, Clay. The second factor that is the composition of the adhesive (20%, 30% and 40%) where every treatment gets 3 repetition. The characteristics analyzed is the water content, rate of heat value, ash, volatile matter, fix carbon, robust press, the density, the effectiveness of remaining and the rate of combustion of briquettes. The results obtained, adhesive type treatment have very real effect to high density, compressive strength, moisture content, volatile matter, ash content, combustion rate and effectiveness. Adhesive composition treatment have real effect to height and density briquettes. The best treatment is obtained briquettes with adhesive clay and adhesive composition of 20%. The result of the treatment have a high 5.33 cm, density of 1.08 g/cm3, a compressive strength 2.466 kg/cm2, moisture content 5.02%, volatile matter 21.03%, ash contents 42.45%, fixed carbon 31.51%, heat calorific value 3063.4 calories/gram, combustion rate 0.465 g/ minute and 55.78% effectiveness.
