Abstract
American dream merupakan suatu identitas yang di percaya masyarakat America, yang masih di terapkan hingga saat ini. Salah satu film yang mendeskripsikan mengenai america dreams adalah Begin Again (2014). Film ini menarasikan tentang kehidupan seorang musisi biasa yang ingin menjadi sukses di kota New York, Gretta seorang musisi yang membuat suatu karya dengan kerja keras dan tidak pernah menyerah, dia percaya apa bila bekerja keras semua mimpi akan bisa menjadi kenyataan . Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan metode kualitatif. Di dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menangkap gambar dan dialog. Dalam menganalisis data peneliti mengaplikasikan teori America values hard work Elise Wile, Maryanne Kearny Datesman, JoAnn Crandall, and Edward N. Kearny Karakteristik kerja keras dilakukan oleh gretta untuk mencapai sukses adalah kemandirian, ketekunan, belajar, datang dengan solusi, ketepatan waktu dan mengambil inisiatif. Dia telah membuat album dengan kerja keras dan alat-alat yang sederhana didukung oleh Dan sebagai pendamping. Keyakinan Gretta tentang kerja keras lah yang membuat keberhasilannya, ini merupakan gambaran dimana masyrakat America masih mempercayai American dreams.
English Abstract
American dreams deals with a sense of identity which is believed by American community until now. One film which describes about America dreams is Begin Again (2014). This film describes about life of an ordinary musician who wants to be successful in New York, Gretta is a musician who reach success by working hard and never give up. She believes if people work hard all dreams will come true. This research applied qualitative approach. In collecting the data, the researcher captured pictures and dialogues. In analyzing the data, the researcher applied the theory America values hard work proposed by (Elise Wile, Maryanne Kearny Datesman, Jo Ann Crandall, and Edward N. Kearny) The characteristics of hard work performed by Gretta to reach success is self-reliance, perseverance, learning, come up with solution, punctuality and take initiative. She has makes an album with hard work and simple equipment supported by Dan as the mentor. Gretta Beliefs about hard work intend to make her success, that reflect for America people still believe in America dreams.
