Abstract
Kekerasan identik dengan tindakan penyerangan, diskriminasi dan konflik. Ada dua macam tipe kekerasan, kekerasan fisik dan kekerasan lisan. Kekerasan fisik dapat di definisikan sebagai bentuk penyerangan fisik yang dapat melukai orang lain. Disamping itu, kekerasan lisan dapat di definisikan sebagai bentuk tindakan penyerangan lisan yang dapat melukai orang lain. Isu tentang kekerasan telah mengilhami dua lagu yang menanamkan tema kekerasan didalam lirik mereka. Kedua lagu tersebut adalah “We Will Not Go Down” oleh Michael Heart dan “Zombie” oleh The Cranberries. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kekerasan didalam kedua lagu tersebut. Penelitian ini juga akan menggunakan teori dari Christoper Reaske untuk menganalisis unsur instrinsik yang terkandung dalam kedua lirik lagu tersebut, seperti penggunaan diksi, majas, dan rima. Hasil dari penelitian akan berkontribusi dalam menjelaskan bagaimana kekerasan digambarkan dalam kedua lagu tersebut. Penelitian ini telah menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan antara bentuk kekerasan yang terkandung dalam kedua lirik lagu tersebut. Persamaan: Kedua lirik lagu tersebut sering menggunakan Alliterasi, yaitu sebanyak 4 dan Hiperbola sebanyak 3, untuk menekankan kengerian dampak kekerasan dalam peperangan. Perbedaan: kedua lirik lagu tersebut berbeda dari segi penggunaan gaya bahasa Hiperbola untuk menjelaskan kondisi yang terjadi selama peperangan. Disamping itu, Antithesis hanya digunakan didalam salah satu lirik lagu tersebut.
English Abstract
Violence is identical with aggression, discrimination and conflict. There are two types of violence, physical violence and verbal violence. Physical violence can be defined as a form of physical aggression that can harm other people. On the other hand, verbal violence can be defined as a form of verbal aggression that can harm other people. The issue of violence has inspired two songs instilling violence theme in their lyrics. These two songs are “We Will Not Go Down” by Michael Heart and “Zombie” by The Cranberries. This research is descriptive qualitative research that describes the form of violence in both songs. This research employed Chistoper Reaske’s theory on how to analyze the intrinsic element contained in both of song lyrics, such as the use of diction, figurative language, and rhyme. The result of the analysis contributed in explaining how violence is depicted in both of the song lyrics. This research figured out the similarities and the differences between the form of violence that contained in both of the song lyrics. Similarities, both lyrics of the song often uses Alliteration, that is as much as 4 and Hyperbole as much as 3, to emphasize the horrors of the impact of violence in war. Differences: both lyrics of the song differ in terms of the uses of Hyperbole language styles to explain the condition that occurred during warfare. On the other hand, Antithesis only employed in one of song lyrics.
