Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui berapa besar laju dekomposisi antara Avicennia alba dan Rhizophora mucronata serta perbandingan dekomposisi antara kedua spesies ini di Kawasan mangrove Kelurahan Ketapang Kota Probolinggo. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada November 2016 hingga Januari 2017 di lapang dengan interval 15 hari periode waktu pengamatan selama 45 hari. Laju dekomposisi teramati lebih besar yaitu pada hari ke 0 menuju 15 pada kedua spesies mangrove. Beda halnya dengan persentase laju dekomposisi, persentase laju dekomposisi Avicennia alba teramati lebih besar yaitu pada hari ke-0 menuju hari ke-15 daripada Rhizophora mucronata sedangkan persentase laju dekomposisi Rhizophora mucronata teramati lebih besar yaitu pada hari ke-30 menuju hari ke-45 daripada Avicennia alba. Laju dekomposisi Avicennia alba sebesar 0,0907 gr/hari dengan persentase laju dekomposisi 46,80% sedangkan Rhizophora mucronata 0,0638 gr/hari dengan persentase 19,34%. Pada hari ke 15 menuju 30 Avicennia alba sebesar 0,0657 gr/hari dengan persentase 14,90 % sedangkan Rhizophora mucronata 0,0629 gr/hari dengan persentase 25,58%. Pada hari ke 30 menuju 45 tingkat laju dekomposisi semakin rendah pada kedua spesies mangrove. Laju dekomposisi Avicennia alba sebesar 0,0579 gr/hari dengan persentase sebesar 54,42% sedangkan Rhizophora mucronata 0,054 gr/hari dengan persentase sebesar 65,64%. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pada awal pengamatan hewan dekomposer tergolong tinggi, penyebab lain yang menjadi perbedaan antara kedua spesies ini yaitu seperti karakteristik fisika dan kimia perairan yang menjadi kontrol kehadiran hewan dekomposer, morfologi daun dan lama periode pengamatan sehingga laju dekomposisi untuk Avicennia alba lebih cepat terdekomposisi dibandingkan Rhizophora mucronata.

English Abstract

This research aimed to compare the decomposition rate between Avicennia alba and Rhizophora mucronata in mangrove forest Ketapang Probolinggo. This research was conducted from November 2016 to January 2017 with 15 days interval period for 45 days of observation. The decomposition rate was observed faster from day 0 to day 15 for both species. However, the percentage of decomposition rate of Avicennia alba was observed faster in day 0 to day 15 than the decomposition rate of Rhizophora mucronata. The decomposition rate of Avicennia alba was 0.0907 gr/day with percentage of decomposition rate was 46.80 % and the decomposition rate of Rhizophora mucronata was 0.063 gr/day with percentage of decomposition rate was 19.34 %. From day 15 to day 30, the decomposition rate Avicennia alba was 0.0657 gr/day with percentage decomposition rate was 14.90% and the percentage decomposition rate of Rhizophora mucronata was 0.0629 gr/day with percentage decomposition rate was 25.58 %. From day 30 to day 45, the level of the decomposition rate was lower for both mangrove species, but the percentage of decomposition rate of Rhizophora mucronata was observerd faster in day 30 to day 45 than the percentage of decomposition rate of Avicennia alba. The decomposition rate of Avicennia alba was 0.0579 gr/day with percentage of decomposition rate was 54.42% and Rhizophora mucronata was 0.054 gr/day with percentage 65.64%. The differences were due to there were decomposers at the beginning of the observation period. Moreover, the environmental parameters could influence the present of the decomposers. In addition, variability of morphology of mangrove leaves for both species and period of observation were also have significant impact on the decomposition rate of mangrove species.
