Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peran antara intensitas penggunaan WhatsApp Messenger terhadap kontak sosial secara langsung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala yang mengukur intensitas penggunaan WhatsApp Messenger dan kontak sosial langsung. Skala intensitas WhatsApp Messenger dibuat oleh peneliti berdasarkan aspek yang diungkap oleh Ardianto & Erdiyana (2004), sedangkan skala kontak sosial langsung dibuat berdasarkan aspek yang diungkap oleh Hertley (Sarwono, 2002). Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 110 laki-laki dan perempuan berusia 20-40 tahun yang merupakan pengguna WhatsApp Messenger. Sampel diambil dengan teknik accidental. Analisis yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu analisis regresi linier sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat peran antara intensitas penggunaan WhatsApp Messenger terhadap kontak sosial primer pada dewasa awal dengan nilai signifikan sebesar 0, 039 dengan persentase sebesar 3,9%.
English Abstract
The research was conducted to determine the roles of the intensity of the use of WhatsApp Messenger against social contacts directly and its existence. The research used descriptive quantitative method. Data collection used a scale that measures the intensity of use of WhatsApp Messenger and social contacts directly. WhatsApp Messenger intensity scale was created by researcher based on the aspects that were revealed by Ardianto & Erdiyana (2004), the scale of direct social contact was made based on the aspects that were expressed by Hertley (Sarwono, 2002). The samples in the research amounted to 110 men and women of 20-40 years old as users of WhatsApp Messenger. The samples were taken by accidental technique. The analysis used simple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the research, there were the roles of the intensity of the use of WhatsApp Messenger against primary social contact in early adult, the significant value was 0, 039 with a percentage of 3.9%.
