Abstract
Oedipus complex adalah sebuah istilah dalam dunia psikologi yang diambil dari Yunani karya Sophocles. Dari mitologi tersebut, Sigmund Freud, seorang pakar psikologi, mengambil nama Oedipus untuk dijadikan istilah dalam penelitiannya mengenai psikologi perkembangan. Freud kemudian memberi nama Oedipus complex untuk menggambarkan perasaan seksual anak laki-laki pada ibunya dan persaingan dengan ayahnya. Sebuah novel berjudul Kafka on The Shore menggambarkan fenomena Oedipus complex ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gejala Oedipus complex yang dialami oleh tokoh Kafka Tamura dan penyebabnya. Penelitian ini merupakan analisis karakter yang menggunakan Oedipus complex dari pengembangan psikoseksual milik Sigmund Freud yang berkorelasi dengan teori karakterisasi. Analisis deskriptif kualitatif dalam penelitian ini yang digunakan sebagai metode untuk menganalisis hubungan antara karakter utama dan gejala kompleks Oedipus dan penyebabnya. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana gejala Oedipus complex muncul di Kafka Tamura sebagai karakter utama dalam novel Haruki Murakami yang berjudul Kafka on The Shore. Manifestasi Oedipus complex yang digambarkan oleh Kafka Tamura terhadap ibunya, Miss Saeki, dimulai saat ia mengikuti tur perpustakaan yang dipimpin oleh Miss Saeki dan ia tertarik padanya. Dia mulai tertarik secara seksual padanya dan memintanya untuk tidur dengannya. Dia meyakinkan Miss Saeki untuk menjadi kekasihnya dan ibunya untuk memiliki cinta dan tubuh Miss Saeki. Penyebab Oedipus complex yang ada pada Kafka Tamura adalah karena ibunya meninggalkannya saat ia berusia 4 tahun, hubungan dengan ayahnya yang buruk.
English Abstract
Oedipus complex is a term in the world of psychology derived from Sophocles' Greek mythology. A psychologist named Sigmund Freud took the name Oedipus to serve as a term in his research in developmental psychology. Freud then gave the name Oedipus complex to describe the boy's sexual feelings to his mother and the competition with his father. A novel entitled Kafka on The Shore illustrates this Oedipus complex phenomenon. This study aims to find the Oedipus complex symptom depicted by Kafka Tamura and the causes. This study discussed about character analysis that employs Sigmund Freud’s psychosexual development of Oedipus complex symptoms in correlation with characterization theory. The qualitative descriptive analysis used in this study was used as the method to analyze the relationship between the main character, the symptom of Oedipus complex and the causes. The findings of this study showed how the Oedipus complex symptom appears in Kafka Tamura as the main character in Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on The Shore. The manifestation of Oedipus complex depicted by Kafka Tamura towards his mother, Miss Saeki, started when he joined a library tour lead by Miss Saeki and attracted to her. He began to feel sexually attracted to her and asked her to sleep with him. He assured Miss Saeki to be his lover and his mother in order to own Miss Saeki’s love and body. The cause of the Oedipus complex in Kafka Tamura is the feeling of abandonment he got because his mother left him when he was 4 years old along with his bad relationship with his father.
