Abstract
The Beatles Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years adalah film dokumenter tentang tur band populer The Beatles di tahun 1960an. Film ini berisi rasisme dan anti-rasisme era 1960-an saat The Beatles mengadakan tur di Amerika. Meskipun usia dokumenter pada film ini telah berumur lebih dari lima dekade, film yang dirilis tahun 2016 ini tetap menarik perhatian penonton. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa rasisme dan anti-rasisme yang terdapat dalam film The Beatles Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years dalam perspektif sosiologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif dimana data dikumpulkan, dijelaskan, dan kemudian dianalisis. Peneliti menggunakan teori Sosiologi sastra oleh Swingewood dan laurenson untuk menganalisa rasisme dan anti rasisme dalam perspektif sosiologi pada film ini. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah yang pertama, The Beatles Eight Days a Week - Film Touring Years merupakan cerminan era 1960-an di mana rasisme dan anti-rasisme sedang terjadi dikarenakan film ini berhasil menggambarkan rasisme dan anti-rasisme di era 1960an. Kedua, adegan-adegan yang ditampilkan menggambarkan perjuangan rasisme di era 1960an dan The Beatles sebagai ikon anti-rasisme. Ketiga, karena film ini menampilkan testimonial tentang rasisme pada era 1960an dari orang-orang pada tahun 2016, membuat pembaca pada tahun 2016 dapat memahami rasisme pada era 1960an dengan sudut pandang tahun 2016. Kemudian, pembaca dapat menghubungkan rasisme dan anti-rasisme pada era 1960an dengan rasisme dan anti-rasisme yang terjadi pada tahun 2016.
English Abstract
The Beatles Eight Days a Week – The Touring Year is a documentary movie about the 1960s famous-worldwide band tour. This movie contains 1960s racism and anti-racism scenes when The Beatles had tour in America. Even though the documentary age has gone through more than five decades, the movie still get acceptance from the audiences as the movie released in 2016. The objective of this study is to analyze racism and anti-racism that may in The Beatles Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years movie through sociological perspective. This study is descriptive analytical study in which data are collected, described and then analyzed. Sociology of literature by Swingewood and Laurenson is used to analyze the sociological aspects of racism and anti-racism in this movie. Conclusion of this study is first, The Beatles Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years movie is mirroring the age of 1960s where racism and anti-racism occurred because this movie has been successfully portrays racism and anti-racism in the age of 1960s. Second, the scenes picked are portraying the struggle of racism in the 1960s and The Beatles as the icon of anti-racism. Third, as the movie put testimonials about racism on 1960s from people in 2016, it makes the reader in 2016 could understand racism in 1960s in the point of view of 2016. Then, the reader could relate the racism and anti-racism in 1960s with racism and anti-racism occurred in 2016.
