Abstract
Pemilihan kepala daerah secara langsung (Pilkada) merupakan mekanisme untuk memilih pemimpin di tingkat daerah. Penggunaan politik identitas di dalam pilkada membentuk dominasi arus besar untuk sebuah kepentingan kelompok yang akan memeras dan menyingkirkan kelompok lawan atau kelompok minoritas. Politik identitas yang terlihat tersebut bermuatan identitas agama, etnisitas dan ideologi politik tertentu. Dengan ini Kota Malang menarik untuk dijadikan lokasi penelitian karena Kota Malang dikenal sebagai kota yang toleransi dan multikutural tetapi nyatanya isu politik identitas masih terjadi sewaktu kampanye pada Pilkada 2013 lalu. Selain itu etnis Walikota terpilih yaitu Abah Anton yang berasal dari Tionghoa turut menjadi perhatian khusus mengingat isu rasial masih menjadi hal yang sangat sensitif di masyarakat. Tinjauan teori dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Politik Identitas Jeffrey Weeks. Ada 3 perspektif dalam teori ini yang berkaitan dengan kemenangan Abah Anton. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualititif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah politik identitas sebagai "alat" kemenangan Abah Anton dalam Pilkada Kota Malang tahun 2013 dan bagaimana strategi Abah Anton dalam meraih kemenangan dilihat dari identitas politik pendukungnya. Penentuan informan menggunakan metode purposive. Dari hasil penelitian, ditemukan fenomena bahwa solidnya Islam dan ormas NU membuat kemenangan Abah Anton mutlak dan juga didukung oleh pecahnya suara PDIP menjadi 2 calon dan tidak solidnya Partai Demokrat membuat para pendukung partai ini beralih pilihan kepada Abah Anton. Fenomena etnis juga menjadi temuan menarik karena 4 etnis terbesar di Kota Malang yaitu Jawa, Madura, Arab, dan Tionghoa memainkan peran yang cukup baik untuk memenangkan Abah Anton.
English Abstract
Direct election of regional heads (Pilkada) is a mechanism for selecting leaders at the regional level. The use of identity politics within the elections creates a large current dominance for a group interest that will blackmail and exclude opposing or minority groups. The visible identity politics is filled with religious identity, ethnicity and certain political ideologies. With this Malang City interesting to be used as a research location because the city of Malang is known as a city of tolerance and multicultural but in fact the issue of identity politics still occur during the campaign in elections 2013 ago. In addition, ethnic Mayor elected Abah Anton who came from Tionghoa also become special attention considering the issue of racial is still a very sensitive thing in society. The theory review in this research is Jeffrey Weeks Identity Political Theory. There are three perspectives in this theory that relate to Abah Anton's victory. The method used is descriptive qualitative with case study approach. The purpose of this study to determine whether the identity politics as a "tool" Abah Anton victory in the elections Malang City in 2013 and how Abah Anton strategy in winning seen from the political identity of supporters. Determination of informants using purposive method. From the results of the research, it was found that the solidity of Islam and NU mass organizations made Abah Anton's absolute victory and also supported by the outbreak of PDIP votes into 2 candidates and not the solid Democrats made the supporters of this party switch to Abah Anton choice. Ethnic phenomenon is also an interesting finding because the 4 largest ethnic groups in Malang, Java, Madura, Arab, and Tionghoa played a good enough role to win Abah Anton.
