Abstract

Gangguan pendengaran merupakan salah satu penghambat proses komunikasi, termasuk perkembangan bahasa. Penelitian terkait perkembangan bahasa dan komunikasi anak tunarungu akhir-akhir ini mulai dilirik oleh para ilmuwan atau peneliti. Namun, masih sedikit penelitian yang berfokus pada bagaimana model komunikasi kepada anak tunarungu disajikan. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti ingin mengetahui bagaimana model komunikasi terapeutik yang diterapkan para terapis untuk menangani anak-anak tunarungu yang melakukan terapi wicara. Peneliti ingin menggambarkan fenomena komunikasi yang terjadi antara terapis dan anak tunarungu berdasarkan sudut pandang terapis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kulitatif dan metode fenomenologi. Lokasi penelitian berada di TOA Jala Puspa RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. Informan di dapatkan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawacara mendalam dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua bentuk komunikasi terapeutik saat menangani anak tunarungu, yaitu komunikasi terapeutik antara terapis & anak tunarungu dan komunikasi terapeutik antara dokter & orang tua anak tunarungu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model komunikasi terapeutik antara terapis dan anak tunarungu tidak selamanya bersifat linier dengan perantara dan dampingan dari orang tua, namun umur klien tunarungu yang ditangani oleh terapis juga dapat mempengaruhi penentuan model komunikasi terapeutiknya. Begitu pula komunikasi terapeutik antara dokter dan orang tua, tidak selamanya bersifat transaksional dengan hubungan mutualisme, tetapi faktor mental orang tua juga memberikan pengaruh pada model komunikasi yang terjadi.

English Abstract

Hearing loss becomes one of the obstacles to the communication process, including language development. Research on the development of language and communication of children with hearing impairment lately has been startly ogled by scientists or researchers. However, there still a few research considering on how the communication’s model is presented to the hearing-impaired children. In this study, researcher choose to find out the therapeutic communication’s model that presented by therapists to handling the hearing-impaired children who do speech therapy. Researcher wants to describe the phenomenon of communication that occurs between the therapist and deaf child based on the therapist’s perspective. This research is conducted by using qualitative approach and phenomenological method. The location of the study is at TOA Jala Puspa RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. The informers are gained using purposive sampling technique. Technique of collecting data through deep interview and observation. The result of the study shows that there are two therapeutic communication’s shapes used while handling the hearing impairment children, they are therapeutic communication between therapist & deaf children and therapeutic communication between doctor & parents of deaf children. The results show us that therapeutic communication’s model between therapist and hearing impaired children is not always linear with intermediate and assisted by parents, but the age of deaf client handled by therapist can also influence the determination of therapeutic communication’s model. Similarly, therapeutic communication between doctor and parents, not always transactional with mutual relationships, but factor of parents’ mental also affect the communication’s model that occurs in it.
