Abstract
Banyaknya mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP Universitas Brawijaya Malang yang belum menyelesaikan skripsi hingga batas akhir pengerjaan skripsi merupakan suatu fenomena yang disebabkan karena adanya hambatan komunikasi. Dalam penelitian ini, subyek penelitian merupakan mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP Universitas Brawijaya angkatan 2010 yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi pada tahun terakhir. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi tipe, jenis, dan faktor-faktor penyebab hambatan komunikasi bagi mahasiswa terhadap dosen pembimbing dan memahami cara pengelolaan hambatan komunikasi serta pengambilan tindakan terhadap dosen pembimbing agar komunikasi kembali efektif dalam upaya penyelesaian skripsi . Penelitian ini akan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan dalam pengembangan penelitian komunikasi interpersonal antara mahasiswa dengan dosen pembimbing. Implikasi penelitian ini bagi universitas Brawijaya adalah sebagai masukan dalam melakukan tindakan preventif munculnya kecemasan komunikasi sebagai masalah utama hambatan komunikasi di kalangan mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data dengan wawancara dan observasi pada mahasiswa terhadap dosen pembimbing. Hambatan komunikasi ini dipicu oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Faktor internal merupakan hal – hal yang berasal dari dalam diri mahasiswa seperti perasaan takut bertemu dosen, motivasi diri yang kurang, malas, merasa diremehkan oleh dosen, kesulitan dalam memulai penelitian sedangkan faktor eksternal merupakan hal-hal yang berasal dari lingkungan mahasiswa seperti terganjal mata kuliah yang belum lulus, dosen pembimbing yang sulit ditemui, konflik dengan dosen pembimbing, tidak memiliki alat komunikasi, dsb.. Penelitian yang berfokus pada sudut pandang mahasiswa ini menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa hambatan utama dari komunikasi disebabkan karena kecemasan komunikasi pada mahasiswa. Tindakan yang diambil oleh para mahasiswa yang mengalami kecemasan komunikasi ini adalah melakukan persiapan diri, mengenali karakter dosen pembimbing, fokus pada kelulusan, bermental baja, dsb
English Abstract
The number of students of Communication Science Faculty of Social and Political Science Brawijaya University, Malang who have not completed the thesis until the end of thesis work is a phenomenon caused by communication barrier. In this research, the subject of research is a student of Communication Science in Communication Science Faculty of Social and Political Science Brawijaya University force 2010 who is completing thesis in the injury time. The purpose of this research is to identify the types, kinds, and factors causing communication barriers for students to lecturers and understand how to manage communication barriers and taking action to lecturers for effective communication in the effort of completion of thesis. This research will be used as a material in the development of interpersonal communication research between students and lecturer. The implication of this research for Brawijaya University is as an input in doing preventive action of emergence of communication anxiety as the main problem of communication barrier among students. The research method used is the data collection by interview and observation on the students 2010. This communication barrier is triggered by internal and external factors. Internal factors are things that come from within students such as feelings of fear meet lecturers, self-motivation is less, lazy, feel underestimated by lecturers, difficulties in starting the research while external factors are things that come from the student environment such as hampered courses who have not graduated, hard-to-find lecturers, conflicts with lecturer, have no means of communication, etc ... Research focusing on students' point of view leads to the conclusion that the main obstacle to communication is due to communication anxiety among students. Actions taken by students who experience this communication anxiety is to do self-preparation, recognize the character of supervisor, focus on graduation, mentally steel, and so on.
