Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Deskriptif Kualitatif, bertujuan untuk mengetahui komunikasi kesehatan yang dilakukan petugas medis kepada keluarga pasien di IRIR RSUD Dr Soetomo Surabaya. IRIR merupakan gabungan dari empat ruangan intensive care ICU, ICCU, NICU dan Burn Unit. IRIR dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian karena pasien pasien yang dirawat di ruangan ini adalah pasien yang dalam keadaan gawat, sehingga peran keluarga dibutuhkan sebagai support group dalam perawatannya. Penelitian Ini dilakukan di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Dr Soetomo Surabaya, yang beralamat lengkap di Jl. Mayjen. Prof. Dr. Moestopo 6-8 Surabaya. Pengambilan data menggunakan teknik wawancara snowball sampling. Informan penelitian ini adalah dokter, perawat dan keluarga pasien di IRIR RSUD Dr Soetomo Surabaya. Keabsahan data menggunakan tringulasi metode. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa komunikasi oleh petugas medis pada saat menyampaikan vonis, diagnosis maupun selama masa perawatan bahwa mereka tidak hanya menyampaikan apa adanya mengenai penyakit yang dialami pasien kepada keluarganya, namun mereka juga memberi sugesti positive, motivasi dan berusaha memunculkan rasa percaya keluarga pasien pada petugas medis. Namun tidak semua petugas medis melakukan hal itu, ada beberapa yang hanya menyampaikan saja mengenai penyakit pasien tanpa memikirkan aspek komunikasi. Untuk memunculkan rasa percaya keluarga, yang petugas medis lakukan adalah dengan melakukan perkenalan terlebih dahulu. Dokter dan perawat saat berkomunikasi dengan keluarga pasien tidak hanya menggunakan komunikasi verbal namun juga non verbal, dan juga menggunakan media lain seperti gambar.

English Abstract

The research is descriptive qualitative that aims at knowing the health communication that is done by medical officer toward patient family at IRIR RSUD Dr Soetomo of Surabaya. IRIR is a combination of four of intensive care rooms of ICU, ICCU, NICU and Burn Unit. IRIR is chosen as the research site because the patients that have been treated in this room is an emergency patient, so the role of the family is needed as a support group in the treatment. The research was conducted at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital (RSUD Dr Soetomo) Surabaya, which was located at Jl. Mayjen. Prof. Dr. Moestopo 6-8 of Surabaya. The data collection used snowball sampling technique. Informants of this research were doctors, nurses and family of patients in IRIR RSUD Dr Soetomo of Surabaya. The data validity used tringulation method. The research results indicated that the communication by medical officer during the verdict, diagnosis and during the treatment period conveyed about the disease only that had been experienced by patients to the families, and given positive suggestions, motivation and trying to raise the confidence of the patient's family to the medical officer, but not all medical officers can do that, there were some medical officers who just delivered it about the patient's illness without thinking the communication aspect. In raising family’s confidence was through an introduction first. Doctors and nurses in communicating with the patient's family didn’t only use verbal but also used non-verbal communication, and also used other media such as images.
