Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari tentang adsorpsi ion Mn2+ dari adsorben kitosan-silika. Adsorben kitosan-silika dibuat dengan perbandingan 1:8. Adsorben kitosan-silika ini dikarakterisasi menggunakan FTIR dan SEM. Penentuan kondisi optimum adsorpsi dilakukan dengan beberapa variasi pH yaitu 3,4,5,6,7 dan variasi lama kontak yaitu 5,15,30,60,75,105. Penambahan adsorben sebanyak 0,1 g dengan volume larutan 25 mL serta kecepatan pengadukan 125 rpm. Penentuan kapasitas adsorpsi dilakukan dengan variasi konsentrasi larutan Mn2+ 25 mg/L, 50 mg/L, 100 mg/L, 150 mg/L, 200 mg/L, 300 mg/L, 500 mg/L, 700 mg/L, 1000 mg/L, 1200 mg/L, 1500 mg/L, 1800 mg/L, 2000 mg/L. Hasil karakterisasi adsorben kitosan-silika menggunakan FTIR mengidentifikasikan adanya gugus O – H dan N – H primer (3451,18 cm-1), C=O amida (2947,79 cm-1), Si – O – Si dan Si – O – C alifatik (1094,33 cm-1), Si – OH (972,82 cm-1), dan C – O – C (1555,28 cm-1). Sedangkan karakterisasi dengan SEM menunjukkan morfologi permukaan yang kasar dan tidak beraturan. Kondisi optimum diperoleh pada pH 5 dengan persen adsorpsi sebesar 77,06% dan lama kontak pada 75 menit dengan persen adsorpsi sebesar 65,59%. Sedangan kapasitas adsorpsi kitosan-silika terhadap ion Mn2+ sebesar 90,02%.

English Abstract

This study aims to study the adsorption of Mn2+ ions from chitosan-silica adsorbents. Chitosan-silica adsorbent is made in a ratio of 1:8. These chitosan-silica adsorbents are characterized using FTIR and SEM. Determination of optimum condition of adsorption was done with some variation of pH that is 3;4;5;6;7 and variation of contact length that is 5;15;30;60;75;105. Addition of adsorbent as much as 0.1 g with 25 mL solution volume and stirring speed 125 rpm. The determination of adsorption capacity was carried out by varying the concentration of Mn2+ 25 mg/L; 50 mg/L; 100 mg/L; 150 mg/L; 200 mg/L; 300 mg/L; 500 mg/ L; 700 mg/L; 1000 mg/L; 1200 mg/L; 1500 mg/L; 1800 mg/L; 2000 mg/L. The results of chitosansilica adsorbent characterization using FTIR identified the presence of O - H and N - H primers (3451,18 cm-1); C = O amide (2947,79 cm-1); Si - O - Si and Si - O - C aliphatic (1094.33 cm-1); Si-OH (972.82 cm-1); and C-O-C (1555.28 cm-1). While characterization with SEM shows rough and irregular surface morphology. The optimum condition was obtained at pH 5 with adsorption percentage of 77.06% and contact time at 75 minutes with 65.59% adsorption percentage. The adsorption capacity of chitosan-silica to Mn2+ ion was 90.02%.
