Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan profil epifit pada musim hujan, persebaran komunitas dan karakteristik pohon inang epifit serta korelasi di antara ketiganya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menjelajah hutan lindung UB Forest pada bulan Februari sampai Maret. Pohon yang ditemukan dicatat tinggi pohon, diameter batang, permukaan kulit batang dan penutupan tajuk serta titik koordinat persebaran menggunakan GPS (Global Positioning System). Analisis vegetasi epifit dilakukan dalam petak berukuran 50x50 cm2 pada setiap zonasi pohon. Iklim mikro yang diamati berupa suhu, intensitas cahaya dan kelembapan relatif udara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah epifit yang ditemukan di area pengamatan sebanyak 2322 individu, yang terdiri dari 19 spesies dan enam famili. Indeks Diversitas Shannon-Wiener (H’) pada tiap zonasi pohon bervariasi dan zona 4 menunjukkan nilai tertinggi 3,25. Nilai relatif kerapatan dan kerimbunan tertinggi dijumpai pada Davallia trichomanoides yaitu masing-masing 48,28 % dan 33,00 %, sedangkan nilai frekuensi relatif hampir sama untuk semua spesies epifit. Pteridophyta dominan adalah D. trichomanoides (141,72 %), kodominansi pada Orchidaceae yaitu Dendrobium linearifolium (67,24 %), Vanda sp. (61,47 %) dan Coelogyne sp. (57,10%), dominansi Piperaceae oleh Peperomia pellucida (183,08 %) dan satu spesies yang ditemukan pada Araceae yaitu Colocasia sp. Epifit umumnya tumbuh pada pohon inang strata C dengan tinggi 4-20 m dan diameter batang >50 cm. Kelimpahan epifit meningkat sejalan dengan diameter batang pohon. Akan tetapi kelimpahan Orchidaceae tertinggi pada intensitas cahaya yang lebih tinggi, sebaliknya pada Pteridophyta.
English Abstract
The aims of this study were to determine the rainy season epiphytes profile, their distribution and host characters as well as interaction among them. Study was conducted along two protected areas of UB Forest from February to March. Host characters were recorded including trees height, diameter of trunk, bark texture, crown size and its distribution by marking coordinate using GPS (Global Positioning System). Plots of size 50x50 cm were carried out in each host zonation were used to epiphytes analyses. Simultaneously we recorded microclimate such as temperature, light intensity and air relative humidity. Result showed that we found 2322 individuals of epiphytes, consisting of 19 species and six families. Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index (H’) in each zone varied and it showed a highest value (H’= 3.25) in zone 4. The highest relative density and coverage values were found in D. trichomanoides (48.28 % and 33.00 %), whereas relative frequency values showed similarly for all species. The dominant Pteridophyta was D. trichomanoides (141.72%), while codominant Orchidaceae were D. linearifolium (67.24 %), Vanda sp. (61.47 %) and Coelogyne sp. (57.10 %), then the dominant Piperaceae was Peperomia pellucida (183.08 %) and a single species of Araceae found was Colocasia sp. Epiphytes were commonly grown in C stratum (4-20 m) tree with stem diameters >50 cm. Generally, epiphytes density increased in higher trunk diameter of host tree. Besides Orchidaceae density increased in higher light intensity, on the contrary for Pteridophyta one.
