Abstract

Adsorpsi besi(III) oleh kitosan-silika telah dipelajari dengan menggunakan metode sol-gel. Penelitian diawali dengan pembuatan kitosan-silika. Kitosan-silika yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi dengan FTIR dan SEM-EDX untuk mengetahui gugus – gugus fungsional dan bentuk morfologi pada kitosan-silika. Penentuan pH optimum dilakukan pada variasi pH 1, 2 dan 3. Penentuan lama kontak optimum dilakukan variasi lama kontak 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105,dan 120 menit. Kapasitas adsorpsi dipelajari pada konsentrasi larutan 25 mg/L; 50 mg/L; 100 mg/L; 200 mg/L; 300 mg/L; 400 mg/L; 500 mg/L; 600 mg/L; 700 mg/L dan 800 mg/L. Konsentrasi larutan setelah adsorpsi ditentukan secara spektroskopi serapan atom (SSA). Hasil karakterisasi kitosan-silika menunjukkan bentuk morfologi yang tampak kasar dan tidak beraturan, meningkatnya unsur silika, munculnya silanol dan siloksan pada serapan gugus Si – O – Si dan Si – O – C alifatik pada bilangan gelombang 1094,33 cm-1, Si – OH pada bilangan gelombang 972,82 cm-1. Kondisi optimum adsorpsi pada besi(III) terjadi pada pH 3 dan lama kontak optimum selama 75 menit. Kapasitas adsorpsi kitosan-silika terhadap besi(III) sebesar 34,31 mg/g.

English Abstract

Adsorption of iron(III) by Chitosan-silica was studied by the sol-gel method. This reserach was started by making chitosan-silica. Chitosan-silica was characterized using FT-IR and SEM-EDX to determine functional group and morphology of chitosan-silica. Determining pH has done in variation pH 1, 2 and 3. Determining optimum time has done in variation contact time 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, and 120 minute. Adsorption capacity were studied in solution concentration of 25 mg/L; 50 mg/L; 100 mg/L; 200 mg/L; 300 mg/L; 400 mg/L; 500 mg/L; 600 mg/L; 700 mg/L and 800 mg/L. The Result of Characization chitosan-silica showed that the surface morphology rough and irregular, the increased percentage of silica, appeared of Xilanol dan Siloxane pada serapan gugus Si – O – Si dan Si – O – C alifatik at wave number 1094.33 cm-1, Si – OH at wave number 972.82 cm-1. The optimum condition of iron(III) happened at pH 3 and contact time optimum at 75 minute.The adsorption capacity of chitosan–silica to Iron(III) is 34.31 mg/g.
