Abstract

Dewasa ini, gas alam mulai dipercaya untuk menggeser ketergantungan kita terhadap bahan bakar minyak. Dengan potensi gas alam yang melimpah di Indonesia, maka akan banyak bermunculan Anjungan Lepas Pantai untuk mengekstrak gas alam. Salah satu jenis Anjungan Lepas Pantai yaitu Semi-sub memiliki pelampung yang memberika daya apung yang terbuat dari stainless steel. Pelampung ini mengalami kontak secara terus menerus dengan air laut sehingga perlu ditinjau ketahaan korosinya. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode eksperimental dengan material Stainless Steel 316L yang dilakukan permesinan Abrasive Water Jet Cutting.. Digunakan variasi tekanan pemotongan dengan nilai 2500 psi, 2750 psi, 3000 psi, 3250 psi, 3500 psi, 3750 psi. Cutting speed 100mm/min, jenis abrasive dengan jenis Garnet, sudut nozzle 0○ dan diamater nozzle 0.8mm ditetapkan konstan. Setelah itu material dilakukan pengujian laju korosi dengan metode sel tiga elektroda. Dari hasil penelitian ini penambahan tekanan akan berdampak pada kekasaran permukaan yang semakin rendah hingga tekanan tertentu kemudian nilai dari kekasaran permukaan akan meningkat. Dengan meningkatnya kekasaran permukaan akan meningkatkan nilai dari laju korosi dikarenakan semakin tinggi kekasaran permukaan maka permukaan yang mengalami kontak dengan elektrolit akan semakin banyak dan berimbas meningkatkan nilai dari laju korosi

English Abstract

Nowadays, the used of refined fuel oil is begin to replaced with natural gas. With the abundant natural gas potential in Indonesia, therefore the demand of Oil Rig construction to extract natural gas will be increased. One of the Oil Rig types is Semi-sub Oil Rig which has a floating mechanism to keep the structure stay afloat on the sea. This floating mechanism is made from stainless steel and it continuously contacts with the sea water so the material needs to be reviewed its corrosion. Stainless Steel 316L was used in this research. The material was cut by Abrasive Water Jet Cutting. The variation of cutting pressure are 2500 Psi, 2750 Psi, 3000 Psi, 3250 Psi, 3500 Psi, 3750 Psi. The other parameters are set to constant with 100 mm/min Cutting speed, Garnet abrasive type, 0○ nozzle angle and 0.8 mm nozzle diameter. From the results of this research, the addition of pressure will decrease the surface roughness until a certain point. Then the value of surface roughness will be increased. The increasing of surface roughness will give more electrolyte to have contact with surface of material and thus will increase the corrosion rate.
