Abstract
Maloklusi merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang dapat menyebabkan terganggunya fungsi kunyah, bicara dan estetik. Perawatan ortodonti bertujuan untuk mengoreksi oklusi abnormal atau maloklusi. Salah satu jenis perawatan ortodonti yang digunakan untuk merawat maloklusi adalah peranti ortodonti lepasan. Dalam melakukan perawatan ortodonti lepasan, diperlukan sebuah acuan penilaian, yaitu salah satunya menggunakan indeks HMAR (Handicapping Malocclusion Assessment Record) untuk mengetahui tingkat keparahan maloklusi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi keberhasilan perawatan ortodonti lepasan menggunakan indeks HMAR di RS Universitas Brawijaya berdasarkan dua komponen yang dinilai pada indeks HMAR, diantaranya kelainan gigi pada satu rahang serta kelainan hubungan pada kedua rahang dalam keadaan oklusi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik observasional dengan pendekatan crossectional. Sampel yang digunakan adalah masing-masing terdiri dari satu model studi sebelum perawatan dan model progres kontrol ketiga dari 40 pasien peranti ortodonti lepasan mahasiswa program profesi FKG Universitas Brawijaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keberhasilan perawatan ortodonti dengan peranti lepasan didapatkan perawatan berhasil umur 8 tahun (100%), 9 tahun (100%), 10 tahun (41,6%), 11 tahun (50%), 12 tahun (50%), perawatan kurang berhasil 10 tahun (33,5%), 11 tahun (12,5), 12 tahun (40%) dan perawatan tidak berhasil umur 10 tahun (24,9%), 11 tahun (37,5%) dan 12 tahun (20%). Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa suatu penyakit atau perawatan memerlukan kerja sama yang tinggi, keterampilan pasien serta keterampilan operator dapat dikaitkan dengan hubungan motivasi dan perilaku pasien dengan keberhasilan perawatan ortodonti. Perlu dilakukan studi lebih lanjut mengenai indeks HMAR (Handicapping Malocclusion Assessment Record) agar mahasiswa profesi atau dokter gigi dapat menggunakan indeks ini untuk menetukan suatu nilai indeks maloklusi dan mengaitkan dengan rencana perawatan.
English Abstract
Malocclusion is one of the teeth and mouth problems that can cause impaired function of chewing, speaking, and esthetic. Orthodontic treatment aims to correct abnormal occlusion or malocclusion. One of orthodontic treatments which is used to correct malocclusion is a removable orthodontic device. In performing removable orthodontic treatment, a reference assessment is required, one of them uses HMAR (Handicapping Malocclusion Assessment Record) index to know the malocclusion severity level. The aim of this study was to evaluate the success of removable orthodontic treatment using HMAR index in RS University of Brawijaya based on assessed two components on HMAR index which were teeth disorder in one jaw also the abnormality of relation between two jaws in occlusion state. The type of this study was observational analytic with cross-sectional approach. . The used samples were each consisted of one study model before treatment and third control progress model from 40 patients of removable orthodontic treatment from students of FKG University of Brawijaya. The results showed that the success rate of orthodontic treatment with removable devices was found to be successful at 8 years of age (100%), 9 years (100%), 10 years (41.6%), 11 years (50%), 12 years (50% ), Less than 10 years (33.5%), 11 years (12.5), 12 years (40%) and unsuccessful 10 years (24.9%), 11 years (37.5%) And 12 years (20%). Based on this study it can be concluded that a disease or care and high cooperation, patient skills and operator skills can be linked to the relationship of motivation and behavior of patients with the success of orthodontic treatment. A further study of the HMAR (Handicapping Malocclusion Assessment Record) index is required so that professional or dental students can use this index to determine a value of the malocclusion index and relate it to the treatment plan.
