Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini mengangkat masalah mengenai pengaruh stand-off distance dan cutting speed terhadap kekasaran permukaan pada abrasive water jet cutting SS 304. Dengan tujuan mengetahui kekasaran permukaan dan foto makro dengan stand-off distance 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm dan cutting speed 20 mm/menit, 40 mm/menit, 60 mm/menit, 80 mm/menit, dan 100 mm/menit. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan pertama dengan membuat diagram alir penelitian untuk mempermudah proses penelitian, menentukan tempat penelitian, variabel yang digunakan, dan menyiapkan alat dan bahan yang digunakan. Tahapan berikutnya melakukan proses pemotongan dengan abrasive water jet cutting pada SS 304 sesuai parameter yang telah ditentukan, melakukan pengujian kekasaran permukaan dan melakukan analis dan pembahasan. Dari hasil penelitian dengan variasi stand-off distance 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm kekasaran permukaan potong semakin naik. Hal ini disebabkan semakin jauh stand-off distance tekanan air dan abrasif yang dipancarkan akan menurun dengan menurunnya tekanan air dan abrasif menyebabkan energi kinetiknya berkurang sehingga kemampuan air dan abrasif untuk memotong benda kerja akan berkurang yang menyebabkan kekasaran permukaannya meningkat. Dan dengan variasi cutting speed 20 mm/menit, 40 mm/menit, 60 mm/menit, 80 mm/menit, dan 100 mm/menit kekasaran permukaannya meningkat. Hal ini disebabkan oleh material removal rate yang semakin meningkat pada cutting speed yang lebih tinggi. Akibatnya kekasaran permukaan mengalami kenaikan secara signifikan pada cutting speed yang lebih tinggi.

English Abstract

In this study raised the issue regarding the influence of stand-off disance and cutting speed against the cut surface roughness onabrasive water jet cutting SS 304. With the purpose of knowing the surface roughness and the macro photos with a stand-off distance 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and a cutting speed of 20 mm/min, 40 mm/min, 60 mm/min, 80 mm/min, and 100 mm/min. The method of research done first by making a flowchart of research to ease the process of research, determine the place of researchers, variables used, and preparing tools and materialsused.The next stage in the process of cutting with abrasive water jet cutting in SS 304 according the parameters have been determined, the test surface roughness and do analysts and deliberations. From the results of the research of with variations stand-off distance 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm surface roughness is getting cut up. This is due to the further stand-off distance pressure water and abrasive emitted will decrease with decreasing wate pressure and abrasive causing the kinetic energy is reduced so that the ability of water and abrasive for cutting the workpiece decreases which causes the surface roughness increases. And with the variation of the cutting speed 20 mm/min, 40 mm/min, 60 mm/min, 80 mm/min, and 100 mm/minute surface roughness increases. This is caused by the material removal rate increasing at higher cutting speed. As a result the roughness surface increase significantly at higher cutting speed.
