Abstract
Serial televisi mengandung ideologitertentu. Membentuk analisa serial televisi adalah salah satu metode untuk memahami ideologi yang tercantum dalam film. Maka, ideologi pada penelitian ini adalah pengaplikasian kehadiran peran ayah di dalam Keluarga Patriarkal Amerika saat ini. Kemudian, adanya ketidakhadiran peran ibu dalam objek penelitian karena dapat diasumsikan bahwa sutradara ingin memperkuat peran maskulinitas dan mendukung ideologi Patriarki. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah serial televisi The Arrow, dengan episode yang berjudul The Unthinkable. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa bagaimana patriarki diilustrasikan pada karakter Malcom Merlyn dan Quentin Lance di episode The Unthinkable. Serta, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Sosiologi, konsep Patriarki, Maskulinitas dan Peran kehadiran ayah dalam konsep parenting,untuk membedah pengaplikasian kehadiran peran ayah di dalam konsep parenting terhadap anak di keluarga keluarga patriarki Amerika saat ini. Hasil penelitian pertama adalah makna pada kehadiran peran ayah. Dalam kajian ini ditemukan kualitas karakter ayah berasal dari kekuasaan maskulinitas dan laki- laki sebagai pengasuh anak. Di sisi lain, sebagai efek istilah Yang Lain pada konsep maskulin, perempuan di lingkungan patriarki Amerika saat ini seharusnya mendukung terhadap aktifitas yang dikerjakan oleh laki-laki. Hasil penelitian lainnya adalah kehadiran peran figur ayah memiliki fungsi mengajarkan nilai dan mengajarkan keahlian. Aspek mengajarkan nilai terdiri dari keluarga sebagai prioritas, isu kepercayaan,dan kebebasan memilih yang berasal dari aspek kemandirian pada maskulinitas. Selanjutnya, aspek mengajarkan keahlian terdiri dari kemampuan pertahanan diri, yang berasal dari aspek pertahanan dan strategi pada maskulinitas. Hasil penelitian terakhir adalah tentang dampak positif dan negatif kehadiran peran ayah terhadap karakter anak. Dampak positif pada karakter anak adalah berani mengambil resiko, pada karakter Sara. Dampak negatif pada karakter anak adalah menjadi tidak mandiri, pada karakter Thea.
English Abstract
Television series contains of certain ideology. Conducting television series analysis is one of the method to understand ideology inserted in the film. Accordingly, the ideology of the study is the application of father presence in parenting concept within American Patriarchal Families Today. Furthermore, the absence of mother in the object of the study appears because it could be assumed that the director wants to strengthen the role of masculinity and support the Patriarchy ideology. The study is classified into qualitative research. The object of the study is The Arrowtelevision series, entitled The Unthinkable episode. The problem of the study is to analyze how patriarchy is depicted on Malcom Merlyn and Quentin Lance in the The Unthinkable episode. Also, this study intends to use Sociological Approach, Patriarchy Concept, Masculinity and Father Presence in Parenting Concept to uncover the practice of father presence in parenting concept towards children in American Patriarchal Families Today. The first finding is the significance of father presence. There is the quality of father’s characterswithin American patriarchal families today which come from hegemonic masculinity andmen could be as children caregiver. Whereas, as the effect of The Other term in masculinity concept, women in Patriarchal society today should support towards men’s action because the presence of women is not admitted by American patriarchal society today. Another findings is father presence has functions which are teaching valuesand teaching skill. The aspects of teaching values are family as primary priority, trust issue, and freedom of choice, those aspects come from independent aspect of masculinity concept. Then, the aspect of teaching skill is self- defense which comes from the toughness and the strategy of the masculinity concept. The last finding is about the positive and negative impactsof father presence through children character. The positive impact for children character is as a risk taker depicted in Sara character. In contrast, the negative impact is being dependent child, depicted in Thea character.
