Abstract
Aktualisasi diri menjadi alasan yang signifikan bagi orang yang ingin mencapai tujuannya dalam kehidupan ini. Aktualisasi diri itu sendiri merupakan bagian dari hirarki kebutuhan dan kebutuhan tersebut terjadi pada film dengan judul Sing Street 2016. Film ini menceritakan tentang Conor sebagai karakter utama yang ingin menjadi musisi dan membuat band. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menganalisa kebutuhan yang mendukung Conor untuk menjadi musisi seperti yang digambarkan dalam film Sing Street 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menganalisis data karena berfokus pada pemahaman mendalam daripada analisis data numerik. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologi sastra, teori hierarki kebutuhan, dan juga studi film untuk menganalisa data. Dari hasil analisis tersebut, penulis menemukan beberapa kebutuhan yang didasarkan pada teori hirarki kebutuhan oleh Abraham Maslow yang terlihat pada film Sing Street. Kebutuhan pertama adalah kebutuhan fisiologis, dalam film Conor mendapatkan kebutuhan fisiologis dari kedua orang tuanya. Kebuthan kedua adalah Kebutuhan akan rasa aman, Conor memenuhi kebutuhan ini dengan menangani orang yang mengganggu di sekolahnya sendiri. Kebutuhan ketiga adalah kebutuhan akan rasa cinta dan rasa memiliki, Conor memenuhi kebutuhan ini dengan menjalin persahabatan erat dengan temannya dan mendapatkan cinta dari Raphina. Kebutuhan keempat adalah kebutuhan akan penghargaan, Conor mendapatkan penghargaan saat dia tampil pada pertunjukan disekolahnya dan semua orang menyukainya. Yang terakhir adalah aktualisasi diri, Conor memenuhi kebutuhan ini saat mengetahui potensinya dan menjadi potensinya. Conor memutuskan untuk pergi ke Inggris dan mencari kontrak rekaman untuk bandnya. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, hirarki kebutuhan Maslow muncul dalam urutan yang sesuai. Setelah Conor memenuhi semua kebutuhan dalam hirarki, dia langsung beralih pada aktualisasi diri. Meski di film ada beberapa kebutuhan yang dalam prosesnya berjalan secara bersamaan, namun pada pencapaiannya tetap sesuai dengan hirarki. Tidak semua kebutuhan tercapai dari usahanya sendiri, ada beberapa kebutuhan yang tercapai dengan bantuan dari orang lain.
English Abstract
Self-actualization becomes a significant reason for people who want to reach their goal in this life. Self-actualization itself is the part of hierarchy of need and it happens in the movie entitled Sing Street 2016. This movie tells about Conor as the main character who wants to be musician and make a band. In this research, the writer analyzes the needs that support Conor to be a musician as potrayed in the movie Sing Street 2016. This research used qualitative method to analyze the data because it focused on depth understanding rather than analysis of numeric data. Furthermore, this research applied literary psychological approach, hierarchy of needs theory, and also movie studies to analyze the data. From the analysis, the writer found several needs that are based on the hierarchy of needs theory by Abraham Maslow that were seen in Sing Street movie. The first need is physiological need, in the movie Conor gain physiological need from his parents. The second need is Safety need, Conor fulfill this need by dealing with his own bully in school. The third need is love and belongingness need, Conor fulfill this need by make a close friendship with his friends and get the love from Raphina. The fourth need is Esteem need, Conor get this esteem when he showed at his first gig in school and everyone loves them. The last is self-actualization, Conor fulfill this need when he know his potential and become what his potential is. Conor decided to set sail to England to find a record deal for his band. Based on the analysis, Maslow’s hierarchy of need does appear in hyrarchial order. After Conor satisfies all the needs below the self-actualization, he directly moves to self-actualization. Although in the movie there are several needs that are in the process running simultaneously, but the achievement is still in accordance to the hierarchy. Also not all the need have to achieve by himself, there are some need that achieved with the help from other people.
