Abstract
Ditemukan masalah dalam proses pembelajaran menulis teks biografi di kelas VIII SMPN 15 Malang. Siswa kesulitan untuk menulis teks biografi karena kurangnya informasi dan pengetahuan mengenai riwayat hidup seorang tokoh. Siswa juga tidak memahami dalam memaparkan isi dari masing-masing struktur teks biografi. Selain itu, dalam proses pembelajaran guru tidak menggunakan media dan teknik pembelajaran sehingga siswa cepat merasa bosan dan tidak bersemangat dalam menerima pembelajaran yang diberikan. Teknik project based learning dipilih untuk membantu kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menulis teks biografi. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan jenis pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dua siklus dengan subjek siswa kelas VIII A SMPN 15 Malang. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian menggunakan teknik tes dan nontes yang terdiri dari observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Pada proses penelitian juga dilakukan observasi guru dan siswa dalam setiap siklusnya. Observasi guru dan siswa merupakan penilaian yang dilakukan observer pada guru dan siswa pada saat proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Hasil observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa mengalami peningkatan pada setiap siklus. Hasil aktivitas guru pada siklus I memperoleh nilai 92 dan siklus II memperoleh nilai 98. Sedangkan hasil aktivitas siswa siklus I memperoleh nilai 81 dan siklus II memperoleh nilai 94. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan menulis teks biografi melalui teknik project based learning dapat dikatakan berhasil dan meningkat pada setiap siklusnya. Peningkatan menulis teks biografi terlihat pada hasil setiap siklus, yaitu pada prasiklus ketuntasan siswa mencapai nilai KKM 13,3%, kemudian pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 34% dan siklus II mencapai 83%. Kesimpulannya teknik project based learning dapat meningkatakan keterampilan menulis teks biografi dan diharapkan guru dapat menerapkannya dalam proses pembelajaran teks biografi agar dapat membantu kesulitan siswa dan tujuan pembelajaran dapat tercapai.
English Abstract
A problem found in a process of teaching and learning biography text at eighth class SMPN 15 Malang. The students faced difficulties in writing biography text because the students have lack of information about someone’s biography. The students also do not understand and do not know how to present the content of each biography structure text. In addition, in the learning process the teachers did not apply teaching media and teaching techniques, so that students felt bored quickly and did not eager to learn. The project based learning technique was chosen to overcomethe students’ difficulties in writing biography text. This study used classroom action research and the qualitative as the approach. This research was conducted with two cycles and the research subject was the students of VIII A class at SMPN 15 Malang. The data collection techniques of this research were test and non-test which consists of observation, interview, and questionnaire. The research process also conducted observations of teachers and students in each cycle. The observation of teacher and student activity has increased in every cycle. The result of teacher activity in first cycle get 92 and second cycle it increased into 98. While result of student activity of first cycle get value 81 and second cycle it increased into 94. The results of this study showed that the writing skill of biography text through project-based learning techniques was successful and increase in each cycle. The increase in writing biographical text can be seen based on the results of each cyclethat wasin pre-cycle 13.3% of students reached KKM, then in the first cycle it increased into 34% and the second cycle reached 83%. In conclusion, project based learning techniques can improve the writing skill of biography text and the researcher hopes that the teacher can apply it in biography text learning process in order to overcome students' difficulties and the learning objectives can be achieved.
