Abstract
Tingkat kejahatan di berbagai negara meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Untung menguranginya, pemerintah melakukan suatu pengawasan. Tidak hanya pengawasan secara langsung, tetapi juga memanfaatkan teknologi yang canggih untuk pengawasan secara tersembunyi. Pengawasan dapat dikatakan sebagai bentuk dari teori panopticon. Mengingat hal itu penulis mengadakan studi tentang keberadaan pengawasan yang terdapat dalam film Snowden sebagai objek studi dan fokus dalam bagaimana pengawasan yang dilakukan pemerintah Amerika dalam film Snowden yang mana menjawab rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengawasan yang terdapat dalam film Snowden terjadi melalui dua tipe yaitu covert surveillance dan clandestine surveillance. Covert surveillance yaitu pengawasan yang dilakukan secara tersembunyi, dalam film Snowden pengawasan oleh Pemerintah dilakukan melalui program – program yang tidak diketahui masyarakat. Clandestine surveillance adalah pengawasan melalui camera yang terdapat pada public area, dalam film Snowden terdapat beberapa pengawasan yang dilakukan melalui cctv yang terdapat pada public area. Penulis juga menyarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya untuk menggunakan film yang sama dengan teori yang berbeda seperti fokus terhadap bagaimana Snowden membangun opini masyarakat untuk mempercayainya. Tipe pengawasan dalam film ini berhubungan dengan politik.
English Abstract
A level of criminality in many countries is increased year by year. In order to reduce it, the government did surveillance. It is not only direct surveillance, but also utilizing an advanced technology for hidden surveillance. Surveillance becomes a problem within a state. Surveillance can be said to be a form of panopticon theory. Thus, the writer conducted a study of the existence of the surveillance which contained in the Snowden movie as an object and focused on how the surveillance is represented in the American government which has already answered the background of the study. The results showed that the surveillance contained in the Snowden movie occurred through two types of surveillance, such as covert surveillance and clandestine surveillance. Covert surveillance was a hidden surveillance, in the Snowden movie, surveillance by the Government carries out through secret programs which everybody knows. Clandestine surveillance is surveillance through the camera contained in the public area, in Snowden movie there are some surveillance done by using cctv contained in the public area. The writer suggested the next researcher to use the same movie with different theories. It would be interesting if the next researcher focuses on how Snowden builds public opinion to believe him. Moreover, this type of surveillance is related to political area.
