Magister thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Antibiotic growth promoter (AGP) is a feed supplement to increase consumption, digestibility and reduce stress in chickens. However, the use of AGP causes residues that are feared to be resistant. Therefore, it is necessary to find alternatives to AGP from natural ingredients such as moringa leaves and sambiloto. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of moringa and sambiloto leaves as an alternative to chicken feed additives reviewed from the appearance of production and microbiological digesta. This study used 256 broilers of the Lohmann MB 202 strain which were kept for 35 days. Feed is given ad libitum. The method used in the in vivo study with a nested Complete Random Design (RAL) consisted of two factors, namely liquid extraction (E1) and liquid nano extraction (E2), each factor had 4 levels of addition, namely L0: basal feed without the addition of feed additives, L1: basal feed + 0.25% feed additives, L2: basal feed + 0.50% feed additives, L3: basal feed + 0.75% feed additives, each level of addition consists of 4 repetitions. The data was analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and if there was a significant influence, it would be continued with the DMRT test. The variables studied in this study were production performance (feed consumption, body weight, FCR (Feed Covertion Ratio), IP (Index Performance), IOFC (Income Over Feed Cost) and digesta microbiology (Salmonella sp., Escherichia coli, Eimeria tenella and BAL (Lactic Acid Bacteria). The results showed that the effect of adding feed additive form did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on the production appearance and microbiological digest of broilers, but at the level of addition of both liquid extraction (E1) and liquid nano extraction (E2) nested in the form had a significant influence (P<0.05) on consumption, body weight, FCR and IP of broilers and had a very significant influence (P<0.01) on IOFC, the number of lactic acid bacteria, Salmonella sp., and Escherichia coli digesta broilers. The conclusion of this study is that liquid nano extraction with a concentration of 0.25% is the best treatment that can improve the production appearance and microbiology of broilers.
