Diperlukan penerapan system triage Emergency Severity Index (ESI) untuk mengklasifikasikan pasien sesuai dengan tingkat kegawatannya. Triage ESI ini dinilai lebih efisein dan akurat dalam penerapannya. Fenomena yang terjadi di lapangan tingginya beban kerja perawat menyebabkan kinerja perawat tidak optimal, terutama pada penerapan system triage ESI. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan beban kerja perawat dengan penerapan triage Emergency Severity Index di ruang IGD. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analisis korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Teknik pengambilan data sampel adalah total sampling sebanyak 21 perawat IGD. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner NASA-TLX untuk mengukur beban kerja perawat dan kuesioner penerapan triage yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan uji statistic non-parametrik Spearman’s Rho. Hasil penelitian didapatkan mayoritas perawat memiliki beban kerja sangat tinggi sebanyak 12 responden (57.1%) dan penerapan triage mayoritas sudah sesuai dengan prosedur sebanyak 14 responden (66.7%). Hasil uji analisis menggunakan uji Spearman’s Rho terdapat hubungan antara beban kerja perawat dengan penerapan triage Emergency Severity Index (ESI) dengan nilai value 0.005 < 0.05 dan korelasi -.591 dengan arah korelasi negative. Tingginya beban kerja perawat dapat mempengaruhi kinerja perawat terutama dalam penerapan triage sebagai waktu emas penyelamatan pasien. Sehingga perlu adanya keseimbangan antara sumber daya, keterampilan dan pengetahuan dengan beban kerja serta penerapan triage agar perawat dapat memberikan proses asuhan keperawatan secara professional.

English Abstract

The Emergency Department (IGD) serves as the primary access point for hospital services, which is very crucial with a high workload. This elevated workload among nurses is attributed to the large volume of patient visits. Implementing the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) triage system is essential for classifying patients based on the severity of their condition, as it is recognized as an efficient and accurate method. However, the high workload often results in suboptimal performance, especially in the implementation of the ESI system. This study aims to examine the relationship between nurses’ workload and the implementation of ESI triage in the emergency department. A cross-sectional correlational analysis design was utilized, with total sampling involving 21 emergency department nurses. Data collection employed the NASA-TLX questionnaire to assess nurses’ workload and a triage implementation questionnaire that had validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using the Spearman's Rho non-parametric statistical test. The study results indicated that most nurses experienced high workloads, with 12 respondents (57.1%), while 14 respondents (66.7%) implemented triage in according to the procedures. Spearman’s Rho analysis indicated a significant negative correlation coefficient between nurses’ workload and ESI triage implementation (p=0.005, correlation coefficient=-0.591). The high workload of nurses can affect their performance, especially in applying triage, which is a critical factor in saving patients’ lives. Therefore, there needs to be a balance between resource, skills, and knowledge with workload and the implementation of triage, so that nurses can provide professional nursing care.
