Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai resiliensi masyarakat petani Desa Kepyar dalam menghadapi tantangan perubahan iklim dan kekeringan. Mengambil fokus penelitian pada kehidupan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat petani dengan menggunakan pendekatan perspektif lokal masyarakat, penelitian ini mencoba untuk melihat lebih dalam mengenai alasan-alasan di balik terbentuknya keputusan petani Kepyar mempertahankan pertanian mereka. Pada penelitian ini digunakan metode etnografi dengan pengambilan daya in-depth interview dan sense of personal experience juga diperkuat dengan observasi partisipasi, dan kajian literatur serta dokumentasi. Desa Kepyar, Kecamatan Purwantoro, Kabupaten Wonogiri dipilih menjadi lokasi penelitian karena menunjukan fenomena perubahan sosial-ekonomi pada masyarakat petani khususnya akibat perubahan iklim. Hasil penelitian ini kemudian menunjukkan bahwa petani Kepyar bertahan karena tiga alasan, yakni (1) ketidakmampuan petani beralih profesi (2) keterikatan petani dengan alam (3) adanya adaptasi dan strategi pada pertanian. Alasan-alasan inilah yang kemudian mendukung adanya keputusan rasional petani di Kepyar mempertahankan pertanian mereka. Adanya keputusan rasional yang dipilih oleh petani sendiri didasarkan oleh konstruksi sosial yang diyakini oleh masyarakat, di mana terbentuk karena adanya pandangan serta pengetahuan lokal masyarakat Kepyar terhadap pertanian.

English Abstract

This research discusses the resilience of the Kepyar Village farming community in facing the challenges of climate change and drought. Focusing on the socio-economic life of the farming community by using a local community perspective approach, this research tries to look deeper into the reasons behind the formation of Kepyar farmers' decision to maintain their agriculture. In this research, ethnographic method is used with in-depth interview and sense of personal experience, strengthened by participant observation, literature review and documentation. Kepyar Village, Purwantoro Sub-district, Wonogiri Regency was chosen as the research location because it shows the phenomenon of socioeconomic changes in farming communities, especially due to climate change. The results of this study then show that Kepyar farmers survive for three reasons, namely (1) the inability of farmers to switch professions (2) farmers' attachment to nature (3) the existence of adaptations and strategies in agriculture. These reasons then support the rational decision of farmers in Kepyar to maintain their farms. The existence of rational decisions chosen by farmers themselves is based on the social construction believed by the community, which is formed due to the views and local knowledge of the Kepyar community towards agriculture.
