Abstract

Tanaman garut adalah salah satu jenis tanaman penghasil karbohidrat dengan mutu yang tinggi, dapat diusahakan dalam kondisi naungan, dan mempunyai kegunaan yang banyak dan beragam serta mempunyai prospek yang cukup baik dimasa depan. Pengembangan tanaman garut dapat dipadukan dengan pengembangan hutan rakyat maupun dengan tanaman jagung dalam sistem tumpangsari. Namun produktivitas yang diperoleh sangat rendah yaitu sekitar 4 - 7 t Ha' . Rendahnya produksi tanaman garut dilahan petani diduga berkaitan dengan belum terpenuhinya kondisi lingkungan yang sesuai dengan habitat tanaman garut. Untuk meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman garut, maka perlu dicari cara penerapan teknologi budidaya yang tepat antara lain pemilihan kepadatan tanaman garut yang tepat dan varietas jagung yang digunakan Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan mempelajari jarak tanam dalam baris tanaman garut dan varietas jagung yang ditanam dalam system tumpangsari terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman garut

English Abstract

Arrowroot is one of carbohydrate producer highly quality. The plant could be planted in the condition of shelter. Its has many use and good prospect in the future. Developing of arrowroot could be fused with developing populace forest or com plant in the intercropping system, but its has low productivity, the productivity that is about 4 - 7 t Ha'1 . The estimated of low productivity of arrowroot on farm, interrelated with environment condition. The environment condition have not been adapted with arrowroot habitat. For the increase arrowroot productivity needed application of correct agriculture technology. The way for increase productivity are choose suitable plant density of arrowroot and com variety. The aim of this experiment were find out planting distance in the row of arrowroot and com variety in the cropping system on plant growth and plant production.
