Abstract
English Abstract
Groundwater is water found in the cavities of geological layers below the saturated zone and is an important water source for life, including in Indonesia. This water is used for drinking water supply, agricultural irrigation, and industrial needs. However, information about groundwater potential is still limited due to the lack of monitoring wells and regional hydrogeological data, making it difficult to identify, map, and utilize it optimally and sustainably. To map the groundwater potential in the Sub Metro Watershed, a combination of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods can be used. This method involves various parameters such as drainage density, land cover, topographic wetness index (TWI), lineament density, slope, rainfall, soil texture, and lithology. Each parameter is assigned a weight and ranking value, which are divided into several classes according to the AHP method calculations. Thus, the weight values of each parameter are summed, and the Groundwater Potential Index (GWPI) is obtained. Based on the analysis using the overlay method, the groundwater potential zones in the Sub Metro Watershed are divided into five categories: very low potential (19.70% of the total area, 50.128 km²), low potential (22.02% of the total area, 56.045 km²), medium potential (21.94% of the total area, 55.851 km²), high potential (17.58% of the total area, 44.755 km²), and very high potential (18.75% of the total area, 47.732 km²).
