Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

E-learning is an electronic learning system using devices that allow teachers and students to avoid physical classroom attendance. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a type of e-learning. Although MOOCs facilitate users by eliminating the need for classroom attendance, they have a high dropout rate. The high dropout rate indicates the need for research to understand the factors influencing MOOC usage among Generation Z. This study employs a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to analyze the impact of Task Technology Fit (TTF), Social Recognition (SR), and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) on Attitude Toward Using (ATU) and Continuance Intention to Use (CITU) MOOCs among Generation Z. Data were collected through an online survey of 385 Generation Z respondents in Indonesia and analyzed using covariance-based SEM techniques. The results indicate that Task Technology Fit and Social Recognition have a positive and significant impact on Perceived Ease of Use. Furthermore, Perceived Ease of Use positively and significantly affects Attitude Toward Using, which in turn positively and significantly influences Continuance Intention to Use. Social recognition plays a crucial role as young generations are highly influenced by the opinions of family, friends, and peers in their use of digital learning. MOOC platforms should focus on user recognition and appreciation, the alignment of technology with tasks, and ease of use to enhance retention and continued usage of MOOCs by Generation Z.
