(2024) Analisis Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment Untuk Mencapai Sustainable Manufacturing (Studi Kasus: Pg Kebonagung Malang). Magister thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
Dalam aspek sosial, SLCA dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner implementasi indikator sustainable manufacturing kepada karyawan, mengklasifikasikan faktor-faktor seperti Work Condition, Work Environment, Work Safety, dan Skill Development.
English Abstract
In the sugar manufacturing industry, PG Kebonagung in Malang, East Java, has experienced significant advancements in its production process. This study aims to measure the sustainability aspects of sugar production at PG Kebonagung through three main pillars: environmental, economic, and social. The research design utilizes the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA) approaches to identify and analyze sustainability impacts. The LCA method, with the assistance of Simapro 9.5.0.2 software, is used to assess environmental impacts, encompassing categories such as human health (76.9%), ecosystem quality (19.4%), climate change (1.27%), and resources (2.37%). This technique reveals that the co-generation energy from bagasse has a significant negative contribution to the environment. For the economic aspect, the LCC method shows that energy costs provide a positive contribution, enabling the company to save Rp. 1,726,175 per ton of sugarcane. In the social aspect, SLCA is conducted through the distribution of questionnaires on the implementation of sustainable manufacturing indicators to employees, classifying factors such as work conditions, work environment, work safety, and skill development. The questionnaire results indicate a good category in the implementation of social indicators. This study concludes that although there are economic benefits from utilizing bagasse as co-generation energy, the negative environmental impacts remain significant. Therefore, it is recommended that PG Kebonagung further investigate improvement recommendations to reduce environmental impacts and enhance the sustainability of the sugar production process.
