Abstract
Kesetaraan karier dalam bidang yang secara tradisional didominasi oleh laki-laki seperti catur masih menjadi isu yang signifikan. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menganalisis bentuk stereotip negatif terhadap perempuan yang digambarkan dalam serial The Queen's Gambit dan bagaimana tokoh utama mengatasinya demi mencapai kesetaraan dalam bidang karier. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori feminisme liberal dan stereotip negatif perempuan untuk menganalisis perjalanan tokoh utama. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi empat bentuk stereotip negatif yang dihadapi oleh karakter utama: perempuan secara bawaan lebih lemah daripada laki-laki, perempuan pendiam dan kurang berani, perempuan harus tunduk dan patuh pada perintah, dan nilai perempuan tidak lebih dari penampilannya. Melalui analisis pada serial ini, terbukti bahwa karakter utama dengan tegas melawan stereotip ini, menegaskan dirinya untuk mendapatkan pengakuan dan mencapai kesetaraan karier pada akhir narasi
English Abstract
Career equality in traditionally male-dominated fields like chess remains a significant issue. This qualitative research aimed to understand and analyze the form of negative stereotypes towards women depicted in The Queen’s Gambit and how the main character overcame them for the purpose of achieving equality in a career field. This research used the theories of liberal feminism and women’s negative stereotypes to analyze the main character’s journey. The research identified four forms of negative stereotypes faced by the main character: women are innately weaker than males, women are quiet and lack courage, women should be subservient and obey commands, and women’s value is nothing more than their looks. Through analysis of the series, it became evident that the main character resolutely challenged these stereotypes, asserting herself to gain recognition and achieve career equality by the conclusion of the narrative.
