Abstract
Setiap individu memiliki kebutuhan yang harus dipenuhi dalam hidupnya. Ketika seseorang berhasil memenuhi satu kebutuhan, maka kebutuhan yang lebih tinggi akan muncul. Maslow menjelaskan dalam teorinya, bahwa ada lima tingkatan kebutuhan yang perlu dicapai oleh setiap individu, yaitu kebutuhan fisiologis, kebutuhan rasa aman, kebutuhan cinta dan rasa memiliki, kebutuhan penghargaan, dan yang terakhir adalah kebutuhan aktualisasi diri. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti memilih film karena tokoh utama mengalami perkembangan pribadi yang dapat dijelaskan dalam kerangka Hierarki Kebutuhan Maslow. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa perubahan kepribadian Otto mencerminkan tahapan-tahapan yang ia lalui dalam memenuhi tingkat kebutuhan Maslow. Pencapaiannya terhadap kebutuhan harga diri dan aktualisasi diri tingkat akhir terjadi setelah ia berhasil memenuhi kebutuhan cinta dan rasa memiliki yang dipicu oleh kehadiran Marisol dalam kehidupannya. Kesimpulannya, karakter utama film ini, Otto, mengembangkan kepribadiannya melalui pemenuhan kebutuhannya
English Abstract
Every individual has needs to fulfill in their life. When one succeeds in fulfilling one need, the higher needs will appear. Maslow explained that in his theory, that there are five levels of needs that every individual needs to achieve, namely physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs, and finally self-actualization needs. In this research the researcher chooses a movie because the main character endures personal development which can be explain within the framework of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This research proves that Otto changed personality reflect his stages in fulfilling in Maslow’s level of needs. His achievement of final level-esteem needs and self-actualization in occurs after he succeeds to meet his love and belongingness needs which is triggered by the present of Marisol in his life. In conclusion, the main character of the movie, Otto, develop his personality a long with the fulfillment of his needs.
