Abstract
Selain berfungsi sebagai hiburan, terkadang film juga menampilkan jalan cerita yang realistis dan menampilkan perjuangan manusia di lingkungan social. Hunger(2023) adalah salah satu film yang menampilkan usaha individu di lingkungan social, yang mengharuskan tokoh untuk berjuang demi bertahan. Film ini berfokus kepada orang-orang yang bekerja di arena F&B kelas atas dan bagaimana mereka dapat bertahan di arena yang penuh dengan kompetisi. Film ini menampilkan tiga tokoh yang masing-masingnya memiliki latar belakang sosial yang berbeda, yang nantinya akan mempengaruhi cara mereka untuk mendapatkan kesuksesan di arena F&B. Menggunakan teori praktik sosial milik Pierre Bourdieu, penulis bertujuan untuk mengetahui usaha yang dilakukan oleh ketiga tokoh, Aoy, Chef Paul, dan Tos dalam mencapai hidup yang sukses. Dalam menganalisa film ini, penulis menganalisa data yang diambil dari film, antara lain, dialog, dan setiap adegan yang ditampilkan di dalam film, dengan dibantu juga oleh teori movie studies. Selanjutnya, penulis menemukan bahwa latar belakang sosial yang berbeda dan juga pengalaman hidup yang berbeda, mempengaruhi pembentukan habitus, yang hasilnya adalah perbedaan dalam memanfaatkan modal, cara membangun arena, dan cara ber-strategi. Hal ini membuat setiap tokoh berbeda satu sama lainnya dalam usaha mencapai hidup yang sukses. Terakhir, film ini juga masih memiliki aspek lain yang dapat dianalisa secara lebih lanjut yakni, makanan yang ditampilkan di dalam film. Peneliti lain di masa depan dapat menganalisa makna simbolis dari makanan yang ditampilkan di dalam film, dengan menggunakan teori gastro criticism
English Abstract
Despite functioning as entertainment, sometimes movies also present a realistic and dynamic plot of human struggle in society. Hunger (2023) is one of the movies that depicts individual struggles in society, where the characters have to strive to survive. This movie focuses on the people who work in the high-class F&B field and how can they survive in a field that is full of competition. This movie presents three characters, who have different social backgrounds which then affect their way of surviving in the F&B field. Using the social capital theory by Pierre Bourdieu, the writer aims to reveal the struggle of the three characters, Aoy, Chef Paul, and Tos in reaching their distinctive life. In analyzing this movie, the writer analyzes data from the movie, including dialogue, and each scene presented in the movie with the movie studies theory. Furthermore, it then found that different social backgrounds and life experiences, affect the formation of their habitus, and thus affect the way they utilize their capital, way of constructing the field, and way to strategize. This makes each character different from the other in their way of reaching a distinctive life. Lastly, this movie also still has another aspect that can be researched, that is the food presented in the movie. The future researcher can analyze the symbolic meaning of the food presented using the gastro criticism theory
