Az-Zahra, Sabrina Yasmin and Anandya Asprillia, S.S., M.A. (2024) A Semantics Analysis Of Slang (Saos) In Tweets By The Official X (Twitter) Account Of Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (Pks) During The 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election Campaign. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

The analysis revealed that the “Fresh and Creative” slang type wasthe most prevalent, making up 53.54% of occurrences, with 53 instances. The primary function ofslang in PKS’stweets was “To Initiate Relaxed Conversation,” accounting for 35.35% of functions, with 35 instances. These findings indicate that PKS uses slang to make their political messages more relatable and engaging for young voters. Slang serves as an effective tool for bridging the gap between politicians and younger audiences, simplifying political issues and enhancing engagement. Future research could examine the use of slang on other political parties’ social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, to explore how it affects varied audiences.
