Abstract
Berbicara merupakan hal yang pentjng untuk dikuasai oleh siswa EFL. Namun kenyataanya, siswa EFL masih mengalami kendala dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, yaitu mengucapkan kata-kata, kesulitan memahami materi pelajaran yang diberikan guru, kurang percaya diri, dan sering malu-malu serta pendiam saat proses belajar-mengajar karena bahasa Inggris adalah hak yang berbeda dari Bahasa pertama mereka. Untuk itu diperlukan strategi agar kemampuan berbicara siswa EFL meningkat. Namun, dalam hal ini terdapat beberapa siswa EFL terkemuka yang memiliki kemampuan berbicara yang baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan wawancara sebagai instrumen. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah tiga prominent EFL students di pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Brawijaya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa EFL terkemuka menggunakan keenam strategi, yaitu memory strategi, cognitive strategi, compensation strategi, metacognitive strategi, affective strategi, dan social strategi. Strategi ini memberikan efek ke kepercayaan diri siswa dan menjadi lebih banyak bicara dari sebelumnya. Selain itu, pengucapan, kelancaran, dan kosa kata mereka semakin meningkat.
English Abstract
Speaking is an important thing for EFL students to master. However, EFL students still experience problems speaking English, namely expressing words, having difficulty understanding the lesson material given by the teacher, lacking self-confidence, and often being shy and quiet during the teaching and learning process because English is a different language from their first language. For this reason, strategies are needed to improve EFL students' speaking skills. However, in this case, several prominent EFL students have good speaking skills. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and uses interviews as instruments. The participants in this research were three prominent EFL students in English education, Brawijaya University. The results of this research show that prominent EFL students use the sixth strategy, namely memory strategies, cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, metacognitive strategies, affective strategies, and social strategies. This strategy has a self-confidence effect on students and has become more talked about than before. Additionally, their pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary improve.
